Curious about your blood panel results........

I am wondering about other folks' results of their blood tests during and after kidney stone experiences. My stone experience lasted about 5 weeks and the stone was stuck for much of it. About an hour before the operation to blast the stone, they took blood. Many things were abnormal: protein in urine, ketones were high, lymphocytes were low, and more. Urologist said all were consistent with a stuck stone, except one thing. My creatnine was a little high. But, my GFR had plummeted all the way down to 58. It's my personal belief that my kidney was shutting down due to blockage. I go back for more blood testing in a few months, unless things go awry before that. I feel great and I am back at work. Curious about anyone else's experiences, especially those with chronic stones or ongoing attacks. Thanks!

My stone was lodged for forty days and my GFR immediately went to 41 when it dropped and finally got back over the 'normal' 61 3 months after the stone passed. Said to be not uncommon but I didn't feel my kidney function was normal until September.

Creatinine was high -- 1.29 (with a norm range up to 1.0)

BUN was right at the limit.

Sodium was high  137 (with a high normal of 133.)

All of this is considered if not normal then not abnormal with the strain of the stone backing up kidney function and impacting other organ function.  It's only a problem  if it doesn't return to normal afterwards or goes on for more than 6 weeks -- since the longer the stone stays the more  nephrons it may kill off so that's where you want to be cautious.  Get it out of there as soon as you can would be my line of thinking. By my own estimation I was beginning to have nephrons die off  (mild nephritis was observed) and much longer might have suffered some irreversible function decline but then again I'm over 60 which makes a difference.

Thank you for your response. It's about 3 weeks after the removal now. I feel good. I go back for blood testing in April, so hopefully everything is normal then.
