Curve of the spine and in excruciating pain

Hi all

I'm new to this forum and in desperate need of help.

Last year I was finally diagnosed with a curvature of the spine after years of being told I have either a trapped nerve or sciatica.

I saw a osteopath who would rub my back then crack it but I was only allowed 3 sessions. I was then put on co-codamol 30/500.

I went back to docs a couple of weeks ago and stated the pain was getting worse so she put me on Naproxen 500mg which made me ill so I couldn't take them. They won't send me back to the osteopath, she just told me to exercise, which I can't do as I can't even sit up!!

Well today I jolted my back and I'm in so much pain I can't even stand up!! If I need to get somewhere in the house I have to crawl. I tried a bath but just got stuck as I couldnt get myself out and even going to the toilet I had to drop to my knees and lie down to pull my trousers up.

This is the worst it's ever been, I'm in agony. Does anyone know anything I can do to help ease the pain (the pills just aint touching it) I can't stop crying, I've never felt this bad before.

TIA

In my experience ur description rings a painful bell from my past.

i had L-3L-4 both discs herniated.. The soft tissue between the vertebrae that serves as shock absorbers were leaking gelly like tissue onto the nerve in my back the pain went down my left leg .its topically called sciatica because the sciatic nerve is compromised by the leaking disks.  My life was so painful. The dics were repaired & immediately after surgery( it was called  chemosynthesis a papaya enzime injection that shrinks the jelly like tissue ) after the epidural wore off I was free of pain.. I will never forget that pain it had crippled me for months with excruciating pain.

Tests which show tissue damage is a CAT scan or MRI. Actually I went to a back surgeon who specializes in back pain he know without tests right away what my back pain was from...

two days later I had my life back!

u can too. Pain meds don't help or repair herniated discs. Hang in there ask if it is a herniated or buldged disc.. Good Luck..

    Hello,

you poor thing, I can completely relate to how you are feeling. I have similar symptoms now for ten weeks, I had an mri very early on which didn't show anything but the pain is so much worse, but not recieving help except pain meds which do nothing. At the moment the only way I'm able to do anything is with crutches to support me standing up but can't do it for even five minutes as to painful and I go numb also in left leg said well as pain, also have blader problems it's a complete nightmare. They advised physio so started but he refuses to see me know as it's to bad. He thinks I have spomdylolisthesis which is when a vertebrate in your spine slips. Have you had a diagnosis? I'm kicking off and seeing consultant again at end of week in hope he can xray to see if it is. In term of pain relief co condomol did nothing they then put me on codeine but the pain still didn't ease so I'm on tramadol. It's better but still only takes a fraction of the pain away if I'm lucky. I also take two naproxen a day but that does nothing but was told I still needed it. Also take two ammitriptyline before bed but don't notice much either. Is it just naproxen you are on? As I don't find that helps for any pain relief personally. I can't sit bit lay with a hot water bottle on my back it helps a little but it's not a cure. Sorry I can't be much help but I understand how you feel xxx

I'm on co-codamol 30/500 and naproxen which I can't take as they make me feel sick.

I've been docs a few times and seen a oseteopath once but only allowed 3 sessions with her. It was the osteopath who diagnosed the curvature and prescribed co-codamol. docs have been saying I have sciatica since I was 15, I'm now 29.

I have never been sent for more tests. Just been given pills pills pills and told to exercise.

I have docs again tomorrow and I'm demanding to see osteopath again.

Yes demand I know pills are not the answer but you do need something stronger. I have only been like this ten weeks but I'm being the patient from hell to get them to keep seeing me as I know I have so ething seriously wrong. You need to be referred to an orthopedic consultant. They started to help me then brushed me off with pills but I am being a pain and have an appointment Friday because of it. Keep pushing and good luck tomorrow xx

Well I went to the docs, crying my eyes out in pain. Wasnt examined just packed off with more co-codamol, naproxen and a pill to stop the naproxen making me feel sick. Was told to exercise and sit up straight. Now at home bawling my eyes out in agony.

Oh sweet it's not nice, my gp is caring but refuses to think anything is wrong. You need some kind of stronger pain relief as that's not sufficient with a lot of pain. Can you see a different doctor in your surgery? Maybe try a walk in centre too if you have on local to you. You deff need a second opinion. Xxx

Great, glad you may have managed to get some relief. Tramadol made me feel sick but after a week my body got used to it and it doesn't anymore. That's the same with me they told me that so I no how you feel. But just some advise you are the only one who knows your body. I'm going to see my consultant tomorrow as started getting numbness and bladder problems and physio said thry don't think it is, so just make sure you stand your ground if you get any changes or think something is wrong. Hope you get some relief Hun xxx
