CYMBALTA: To take or not to TAKE

Posted , 4 users are following.

Is there anyone out there who can help me. I have been taken off Citalopram by my GP because I was having suicidal thoughts and my depression was worsening. He has given me a prescription for Cymbalta (duloxetine) which I am supposed to begin taking today, having read the PIL and all other info available I am scared to take it. Having been depression drug free for several days I feel almost normal. Can anyone give me their experiences of taking CYMBALTA please

I wonder if you did start the duloxetine. I have just been prescribed it as my previous mood stabilizers need a top up and the anti depressant I'm on appears not to be working. I'm scared.

Hope you are still feeling better. Speedbird

Been taking Duloxetine since November and must admit that I was surprised at how quickly they worked. I was originally on Escitalopram but unfortunately they seemed to have stopped working for me. No problems changing from one to the other - just a straight swap.

I must admit to being scared to start on yet another Anti - Depressant but was surprised at the LACK of side effects - no insomnia, nothing. Just a feeling of well-being. I know it's not the same for everyone but for me they work just fine.

I've been taking Duloxetine since may 08 and have recently had the dose upped to 90mg daily, I cant honestly say they have done much for me, they did at the start, the panic attacks went quite quickly after starting them, but the low mood remains the same.

Hopefully they will work for you, they are a recently new drug and there have been some good reports about it.

I'm seeing my psychiatrist next month and I'm going to see if there's anything that might make me feel happier, as nothing much makes me happy lately. I've been on Citalopram and they stopped working for me too, and after that I was prescribed mirtazapine but after 1 tablet I collapsed and had the worst 3 days ever.

Give the duloxetine a try, hopefully they will work well for you, good luck
