Cymbalta weaning

happy new year to you all. I have been a PMR er for almost 3 years. Down to 5 pred, which is where my body seems to like. I was prescribed Cymbalta about 2 years ago for my”crying bouts. I WANT OFF.  I have read a lot about the horrors of weaning. Anyone have any thought to share on this?  Thanks for all the support on this unpleasant journey, Judy in US

I don't think there are many people on the forum who are on it - it does nothing for PMR. Harvard Health offers suggested schedules for weaning off various drugs including Cymbalta - search for cymbalta weaning schedule.

To a great extent it is the same as weaning from pred - and Harvard Health suggests leaving several weeks between each drop, just as we do. The slower you wean the less likely the side effects will be.

I do know of a couple of people who wanted to stop and their doctor said "just stop". It does make you wonder really when the doctors who press it on the patients know so little about it!

Oh, how right you are. It was only prescribed for my depression, if you may say that, only related to my life changes from PMR. I have done quite a bit of research on weaning, and ugh, sounds worse than pred. I am determined and have started myself. Dropped from 30 to 25,as I can open the caps and count out the pellets. I see Dr in 2 weeks, thanks for reply
