Cymbalta withdrawal and supplements?

Posted , 2 users are following.

I'm just starting my taper off of Cymbalta under the guidance of my doc.  Day 2 at 40mg from 60mg and so far ok, but I've heard the withdraw can get rough.  Has anyone heard of any supplements, diet modifications, or anything other than just slow and steady to ease or prevent symptoms?  I've heard a good daily dose of fish oil helped one person.  Anyone else had a good (or bad) experience with supplements to ease withdrawal?

Ive just gone cold turkey from 60mg for about 8 months to zero. Its been a week and i feel no different. When i took the pills I barley felt an effect, my depression did not improve at all its still the same... my pains may have slightly improved but its difficult to tell if its doen to the pill or other factors which is one reason ive come off it to see the difference. Im confused why im not getting these withdrawals everyone speaks about.

Another thing that amazed me is how my gp put me on the pill which I kept getting repeat prescriptions for but the gp never once asked me to come in for a reivew or when ive seen him for other things did not bother to ask how I feel on these pills or anything it was my decision to stop them.

Really glad to hear you're doing well.  I've seen so many horrifying posts about how bad quitting this med is, but I suspect it's only the 5% of people who have very bad reactions that are posting.  I did 3 days at 40 and dropped down to 20 today.  Honestly, I feel better than I ever did while taking the full dose.  My doc never asked how I was feeling either.  In fact, the first few weeks I was on it I felt that I was having very bad side effects, which actually led me to discover this forum!  I told the doc about this at my first checkup and his answer was, well lets up the dose!  I'm going to do a couple more days at 20 and if its still going well call it quits.  I've experienced my share of withdrawing from other substances, and I don't want any more, but this med is just no good, for me at least. I'll keep it close in case of delayed withdraw or PAWS, but I just can't wait to be off completely.
