I am so fed up with non sympathetic doctors (some of whom women!!) It seems that Trimithroprim is actual gold dust. I used to have a stand by supply as I suffer from recurrant cystitis, often with no apparent reason. When they ask for a urine sample they just get the nurse to do a dip stick test and nothing shows up. Iv had this so many times and when they do get round to sending the sample to hospital for tests it comes up positive with me having to suffer for days.

Last week I went to my dr again and she made me feel like I was trying to get the pills under false pretences, saying well Il give you them this once. Next time you have to come in and wait. Like I want pills for no reason?The pain is unbearable, it is constant and I often feel like there is no point living with pain like it.

I am going again to see the dr this week and I need standby pills and will see what happens this time. Why O Why cant we just buy the pills, we know when we are in pain.

    Im going through the exact same thing, it was like you had written down everything I was thinking (except the gold dust works and then makes me really ill ) You really should be able to buy it over the counter, its a jokes that you have to wait days for the sample to come back.

    My boyfriend took me to AnE last month because I was in so much pain, I was asking the doctor questions about why it seemed to to be coming back so often, he cut over me and said \"Look, little girls (im 20!) just get it sometimes, you can stop having sex but apart from that nothing you can do\" I couldn't believe he was so rude!

    I have heard that you can have a scan to check if your tubes are straight, if the have any slight kinks in them then bacteria can get stuck in them and not get flushed away causing recurrent infection. I haven't had it but as going to request I have it done. have you heard of this or had it done?

    Im off to the doctors AGAIN today so hopefully they can do something. I really hope your feeling better I wouldn't wish this on anyone.

    Hi i think a lot of drs think we are after operations or goofy pills,ive been suicidal having to go to them in pain wen all you want is to do a nice long pee.I have been bothered with cystitis all my adult life and only buy trying different things to help me for yrs n yrs i have found a brill way to help me get that pee.Drink at least 2 pints of milk or milk shake dont go to loo untill you drink it.Amoxycillon helps too but i have that milk or flavoured milk defo works do this drinking milk all day not always 2 pints i bet it helps but 2 pints for first drink.dont try water or soda they dont work neither does cranberry juice hope this helps you i had to find out myself.I dont know a lot of drs nurses with good manner or sympathy for patients.Scotland uk
