Cyst diagnosis

hi everyone smile!

I'm 22 and went for an ultrasound last week to check for polycystic ovaries, the doctor rang me back the same day saying they have found a complex ovarian cyst so I need to see a specialist. I went back to the doctor yesterday and was told the cyst is 14cm x 8cm x 7cm and has pushed my ovaries next to each other so much that they couldn't tell wheich ovary was which.

Ive had all my blood tests but have to wait 2 weeks for the results for that and also 2 weeks for my specialist consultation (fast tracked apparently)

My stomach is very bloated and painful, as well as back pain, upper leg pai. And shooting pains in my right side.

im trying not to worry but the doctor told me to take it easy as the ovaries could twist at any time. Has anyone else been told this ?

im also worried about the surgery, with the size of the cyst will it have to be open surgery ? I was hoping got key hole but that doesn't seem like iy

l be the case now rolleyes

sorry for for the ramble! Just concerned and a lot of news to take in within less than a week

    Hi Gemma

very stressful I know but hopefully will be sorted for you quickly.

i have dermoid cysts on each ov which I was told yesterday I will have to have removed by open surgery, little bit disappointment as just got my head around having it key hole.

im 34 yrs old just waiting for results of blood tests, I was told the test results would be back in 2-3 days so maybe you can call your gp for the results at least then you won't have to wait the 2weeks, waiting is the worst !

my consultant explained to me yesterday that she would like to do open surgery due to the type of cyst if it bursts then it can cause infection and also the damage to the ovary it has caused she would prefer to have a good look and save the ovary as only young, this could be same for you as you are young they want to try and save as much ovary as possible, just bit of a shock at first.

    good luck with your appoinment

      Hi Carly

sorry to hear you have cysts in both ovaries! Have you got a date for your operation yet? The waiting is horrible!

I hope your op goes well! It's a lot to get your head around!

High Gemma and Carly I have also just found that I have a giant multiseptated cyst on or near my left ovary 20.4cmx28.3cmx32.9cm my surgery is scheduled for April 16 I am 49 they are planning an open surgery for me possible full hysterectomy matters what they find when they get in there (malignant or not) I'm hoping that they only have to take my left ovary and tube so it doesn't put me in to surgical mentepause (?on spelling). I have just started to have a few small hot flashes at this point considered perimentapausle at this point. The waiting for test result and surgery date is the worst. I just try and keep myself as busy as possible less time to think. I will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers. Keep in touch and let me know how things go? I will give a fallow up on things for me as well. Best of luck both of you. Ronda
