4 months ago i had a 19mm uterus, 7.5 & 5.5 cysts, was anaemic and bleeding out of control. gyn shoved a mirena into me and voila, 4 months hence:
ute is 4mm, cysts 5.5 & 2.5, bleeding gone and iron levels inching up
am tired, gained weight (close to 20 lb) thus when the left ovary comes out so does the coil, but meantime have averted major surgery and am grateful

Just for clarification for other:
I think you meant 19mm Endometrium layer in the uterus, that shrank to 4mm?

i was very hesitant to have mirena put in - and look forward to removing the ovaries that were pumping me full of estrogen so i can take it out, but for now its saved me from a major operation, full on intraveinous anaemia treatment, potential uterine cancer etc. i do feel a bit 'weepy' but it could be from relief after many years unpleasant journey to get to this point and last 4 months of dread. mirena isnt ideal for non-interventionist non-pharma me - the weight gain is considerable - but to date its better than the alternate. it was a difficult decision to make and i hesitated but now am glad i tried
