Cyst on my kidney

HI, I was diagnosed with a 5cm cyst on my right kidneyin 210 , this i had assperated in the october , went back to appiontment , in the january , as was told it would fill up again quickly, put on list to have cyst deroofed in the june , At theatre door ready to go in , another consultant came to say he was cancelling the op , as in his opinion , I has cancer in my kidney under the cyst , I had my kidney removed on 1st August this year , they say the cancer was contained after further ct scans of chest and body , although i have 2 small liesions on my lungs , they are not from the kidney cancer , I will now go every 6months to start with then on to 12 monthly checks, not wanting to scare you as it is a very low percentage something like 5% that can turn cancerouse, its still a % so ensure you keep on at them , it took 18 months of up and down hospitals to getsorted , mistakes were made and information not passed on so demand to know exactly whatis going on , dont takethier word that continual infections and blood in urine can be normal in some people , listen to your body , you know it better than any one, take care

Hi I've been to hospital for a scan and was told that the cyst is nothing to worry about and since I have no other symptons I've been discharged. I am a bit concerned since unless I feel ill or have any infections they are not going to keep an eye on it so i won't know if it changes. I looked up bosniak type 2 cysts and there is an 18% risk of this being kidney cancer. thanks for reply.

Just keep on top of it any worries or concerns keep going back, at first mine was just a cyst but from the octto the following march i had a cancer , so any changes you feel are going on keep going back

I was diagnosed with a Grade 3 Bozniak cyst just over a year ago. My consultant didn't hesitate and operated within 2 months. I had a radical nephrectomy ( kidney removed). It was only 3 cm but apparently it was a silent cancer going on and had probably been sat there for 5 or 6 years! I have now got a nodule on my lung (4mm) and am hoping and praying it is innocent. I will find out after my next scan which is due around September. I think a grade two Bozniak is generally ignored but you need to talk to your GP about your concerns.
