Sorry to hear about your pressure. Have you spoke to your surgeon or Urogyn? ?? I pray things get better. Haven't had that surgery before.

Have you had a post op checkup yet? It sounds to me as though your body is telling you not to overdo things! We are all different in he times we recover so don't despair just be careful not to lift heavy things, squat, run or do sports which put a strain on your pelvic muscles yet. Swimming, walking gently, are ok and help strengthen your pelvic floor. Have you had any physio therapy with a specialist in pelvic floor prolapse? This is supposed to help if you could ask your consultant/surgeon about them. Please take care and listen to your body if you want the repair to last. rolleyes

    Hi J4475,

Would just say the same as Pollan name, but would also add that the back repair can take longer than the front repair.

These repairs are classed as major surgery and the deeper tissue can take much longer. If you check out the surgery online at how they actually do it; it's no wonder the recover takes so long, it must be a shock for the pelvic floor.

It will take time for the pelvic floor muscles to build up their strength again.

    Take care,

SAME! I am 12 weeks post op for same repairs plus a bit more.  At 8 weeks, I was told everything looked well supported and I could resume full activity.  I told doc that that wasn't possible as I still had pain and pressure that is clearly worsened with activity.  After cleaning my house, I can feel slight bulge.  I had to spend this past weekend on the couch after normal cleaning on Friday.

I've had to insist on being fitted for a new pessary.  I wore one for 17 years before surgery and never really believed I'd be able to go without it, but I went through with surgery and was hopeful.  Bulge is nothing like pre op, but my life it definitely worse.

    What does your doctor say?

      Hi Debrar,

These repairs are major surgery and it takes up to 3 or 4 months to recover.

You should not do anything for first two weeks then very slowly start with a five min walk/ making light lunch mug of tea and build up to 2x 20 min walks/ light dusting by 6 weeks. Then over next 6 weeks very slowly and gradually build back up to normal activity, and not carry anything over 3 litres or do any gardenon. But most important some of us take much longer and that is why you take it slowly; if you do a little more and your fine that's OK but if you do a bit extra and your body tells you its too much then you have to rest and cut back again until your body tells you it can cope.

So important in early weeks to listen to your body and not overdo things. It can take up to 16 weeks for swelling to go completely down.

Please take care, you don't want to have to go through it all over again.
