Cystocele repair

Hi,

I had a vaginal hysterectomy and anterior repair carried out last May. Unfortunately the repair failed and I am waiting on a date another repair. Can anyone give advice on recovery period and what to expect please? Will it be similar to last time or as it's just a repair will recovery be quicker?

Thanks

Recovery is pretty much the same as last time. Hoping you are having it done by a Urogynaecologist? Anterior repair is major surgery. No heavy lifting and limited physical activity forever after last op and even more so, this next one. Go to Genitourinary home page, then to Useful Resources. Scroll down to South Tees info and it's all there already for you.

you should be asking in Urogynaecology section here where pelvic floor repairs are discussed separately from Gynae Hysterectomy

Do you know the grade? Pelvic floor exercises will help before and after the operation, and I’ve been using a Kegel (you can google other resources) as well. I had a similar repair and have gone from grade 4 to 1, I’m hoping to control it with the exercises and put off another op! Good luck!
