DAE have anxiety that makes you scared to say or think something, in case it becomes true or real?

Posted , 10 users are following.

And the flip side of this too - anxiety that makes you not want to say or do positive things, because it’ll make bad things happen instead?

Title example: I can’t vocalise out loud about being worried for a family member who is travelling, in case they have an accident - because if I do, that will make it happen.

Flip side example: I’ve been trying to practice being positive and grateful everyday; I wanted to say to myself that I am thankful for my health. But then I felt like I couldn’t say that out loud, because it’ll make me get a debilitating condition/pass away suddenly etc.

yes I’ve had that happen many times over many years and take my word for it, it’s not worth it. It’s your anxiety talking. it made my anxiety even worse. And here is why ...

when we have anxiety and think about things we are programmed by anxiety to go to the negative. it’s like if you can imagine a groove in the brain that is set up for negativity and fear, that’s where our thoughts automatically go when we are controlled by anxiety and fear. So what is happening is that even when you think of something good like being grateful, the thought always goes to the negative. so then you start thinking what if something bad happens because I’m thinking positive. It’s an automatic response that can be reversed.

there is no bad curse that Will make something bad happened because you are being positive. anxiety can make you believe that. I am in my fifties so here is words of wisdom, .... STAY POSITIVE! it will begin to change that automatic trip to the negative "groove". the more u do that the better. gratitude is an awesome trait to have and it decreases the power of anxiety and brings contentment and peace. so, say it out loud! THE MORE U say it out loud the more your brain believes it!!

    HOPE this helps ❤

I USE TO SET IMPOSSIBLE TARGETS when i was younger LIKE running TO THE NEXT LAMPOST BEFORE THE CAR GETS THERE ,otherwise something bad would happen to me.

IF I DID BEAT THE CAR THEN ID GO TO THE NEXT LP AND ULTIMATELY LOSE.

Yes. This is actually a type of OCD called Pure O. It's intrusive thoughts, brought on by anxiety. It's very common.
