Daily head pain for 9 months. Is this normal with cs

Hi

I have daily pain at the back of my head sometimes radiating towards the front. Had mri results back about a month ago which showed bulging disc at c6/7 and multi level disc degeneration. The dr and physio doesn't know why I'm having head pain as in theory pain should be going down not up. Having course of accupuncture at moment which is doing nothing. Dr is taking me of gabepentin as it only works temporarily before I have to increase dosage. Anyway, I would like to know if this is normal? Should I be pressing them for more specialist advice. Only saw neurologist once and then simply received a letter to say disc problem start with pain relief and physio and if not successful referral to spinal surgeon. The thought of surgery is scary but so is the prospect of living like this

I was given traction this week,iv been getting headaches and a numb scalp,no MRI for me yet as I had to beg doctor to give me an X-ray. The traction helped and you can buy them for around £25 off eBay. The physio said it would help me a lot. Iv also been having lazer and ultra sound which help x

hi rachd123 I to have the same problem of pain in the back of my head I sometimes self medicate as well as my normal medication but I found something as simple as one of the toys you can buy that goes in the microwave sometimes helps to ease it you could also try meditation as they said it would help me (did"nt help) they said mind was to busy but it helped some of the others that was there I have also found that when you are sitting try to have your head supported as that might help https://patient.info/forums/graphics/icons/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

Thanks for your comments. I tried my sons microwaveable toy last night. Smelt awful but didn't feel too bad today so never know. Just started getting pains in my arms as well tho! Not had that before! Head pain started first 9 mths ago and sciatica 3 mths ago although that's on and off. Came on after accupuncture last wed so I will have to speak to physio about it tomorrow x x

hi rachd123 gad you tried it I use the lavender one it smells better (granddaughters) I also take anadin liquifast and that some times works for me as well they told me that might happen when I had acupuncture but that did not do anything for me the thing I have found to help is be positive and upbeat I know it is hard some days but if you don't the pain seems to get worse (or is it just me) a few of my friends who I met at pain management clinic have said that too ask your gp before you self medicate as my gp knows I do and also my consultant also knows good luck with your physiorolleyes http://www.patien

Did you get any relief from the neck injections? I haven't been offered anything. Got appt with my gp Monday 17th to go through my options for pain relief. According to him the site of my herniated disc and pinched nerve should mean I'm in no pain. I wish! Thinking of pushing for referral to pain clinic. Neuro had already discharged me. Good luck for Monday
