Damn rugs!

i removed all rugs pre-op as per recommendations and then today thought I would replace some.  My flip flop caught under the hall rug and I jerked my leg and now I'm resting with a coffee and a couple of painkillers - damn!!

last night went out for dinner with friend who had not seen me since before the op and he was amazed at how normally and limp free I am compared to before.  It's nice to be reminded. 10.5 weeks and all is well apart from this blip.  Rugs will go back into garage!

I kind of new that someone would say that 😕. I think I could have caught the rug anyway but, yes, Christine, I think they will go back into the cupboard until next summer.

Flip flops are the invention of the devil. Especially for us!

    Hi Laura85375

Flip flops and pets seem to be a major no no.

I have both and got through first few months no problem. My kitties have been a delight and a comfort. Flip flops will go back into cupboard though.

I have a Lhaso Abso who moves around silently, likes to leap up on my kness for a better view through the patio window to the garden.

I find barefoot to be the safets! but end up with grubby feet! lol

I am 5.5 weeks and still massively limping. You have given me hope that after 10 weeks I may be much improved!

Oh Linda you must not have the horrible Ted's. So glad to have them off so I can at least go to the bathroom at night without having waken up to put shoes on. I love going barefoot but can't reach feet yet to wash them or get in my own shower as is over bath. Basin foot wash at present.

Forgive me if you already knew this. I could have kicked myself (as if!), when it was pointed out to me

Put a sturdy box, or similar, just outside the bath and use that to help step over.

      Duh me!

I sit on a bath board across the bath to use my over bath shower. I put the plug in the bath so my feet get a good soak too! Can't wait to get back in a lovely bubble bath!

Looked all over house but no sturdy box. There is a wide shelf at the far end of my bath .. Think I might try sitting on that and swing legs over but only if someone with me. Got the hair dyed there now using shower hose and plenty tiweks on floor. Another milestone.

You should be able to find something similar in cheap chain shops. Kiddys' toilet step or something?

Well timed post for me Laura. I have used my front door today with a higher step for the first time since op. As it is very rainy, I thought I must put the mats back down. But will leave them for a while. I used to work with older people and would recommend that they lift their mats for safety if they were shuffling along. Now that I have to admit reluctantly that I am I that category ,I need to take my own advice.
