Dancing and Taekwondo - Should I be scared?

I've had on and off ringing and buzzing in my ears (i can't hear it during the day, only when it's really quiet at night) for about almost a month (??) now after I came down with a flu. I'm not sure if it's ever going to go away but sometimes (very rarely) my ears start to hurt and one ear starts ringing really loud and high pitched, and then goes back to the normal volume. Is that normal?? I'm 13 right now by the way. I had just started dancing and taekwondo and I'm scared the performing and loud shouting in taekwondo will worsen the ringing and buzzing?? Also, are ear plugs bad for my ears?

You may have had an ear infection/virus or head cold. It can take a while for this to clear up on its own. The ringing will be louder if you do any high intense activity due to the blood flow around your body which will make he ringing worse.

If you haven't been the doctors then I would go and get your ears checked out, I wouldn't wear ear plugs to be honest.

If I may, first thing is to see an ENT specialist to determine the cause of the ringing in the ears, especially at only 13 years of age.  If you have not already, please inform your parents and that they should take you.

I was scared too..I was 64 and thought my life had ended ...no sleep ...I jazzercize to loud music ....I love rock concerts and plays and movies....I got to only sleeping about an hour a night.... Then I tried eastern traditional medicine ....massage techniques....everything...and finally an acupuncturist toned it down....I found many sleep aids that worked somewhat but finally a a dr gave me Xanax so I could get a good sleep pattern ....then an acccupuncturist actually tuned down the sound...I got apurseful of earplugs ...and am leading a more beautiful and great ful life for all the trauma....I would definitely have a western doctor test you for hearing....pretty much wasted money but rule that out gave me a peace of mind....I also listen to guided meditation morning and evening ....take good care of yourself and keep us posted on your progress and what works for you....much love sent to yoChristine
