Darkening patch on my neck

Hello,

Five days ago a patch of skin on my neck became red. No pain, I assumed it was a sunburn. It has since darkened to a brownish red color and has begun to burn slightly. The patch is slightly raised and swollen. When a nurse looked at it, she said it was a sunburn.

My question is- does this look like something more serious?

The first photo is day #3 of the rash, the second photo is day #5.

It certainly could be sunburn especially with that well defined outline. That burning sensation may mean the burn has affected a lower skin layer. It may start to itch as the burn heals then it should dry and peel. Dont pick at it or try to peel the skin off. Let it come off naturally. A light cream like Nivea may help to soothe the area and stop the drying too much.

Try to use a high SPF cream if you are out in the sun in future.
