My Daughter had pain in eye and attended A&E on Sunday and was diagnosed with corneal abrasion, by the evening was in severe pain and lost vision went back and has been told she has corneal ulcer. She has drops every hour, severe pain and sees specialist every day. She has permanently lost vision and they have been working to save eye. Bacteria appears less and she will need surgery in a few weeks. Has anyone had experience of this.

The infection is Pseudomonas aeroginosa. It is a common bacteria. They say this is really unusual. She is a healthy young women who goes to Gym everyday.

This is not common. These bacteria sometimes infect prosthetic joints and also in IV users.

I have had exactly the same. A corneal ulcer is excruciating and if it gets infected needs immediate treatment.   Great to hear the infection is clearing.  What sort of surgery is going to be done?

Hi, we are not sure, as the amount will depend on if they can save the ey, as she can still see light from dark. May I ask if you lost any vision and if you had hourly eye drops if it was for an extended time frame. Thank you for your reply.
