Day 14 100mg sertraline, awful nights sleep

So it's day 14 sertraline 100mg, terrible last night, couldn't get to sleep till gone 3am, felt de real, scared etc. Had tight chest on and off all day yesterday. Then light-headedness. It's all getting very hard to live with. Can't function at all, just moving from couch to bed and return. Appetite also very poor. Hoping and praying to see an improvement soon. How's everyone getting on with this med?

It sounds like you are going through side effects of upping- increased anxiety which is normal. Are you on it for depression, anxiety or both? Usually side effects should start improving towards the end of week 3. Were you on 50 for long?

Hi, on it for anxiety, panic attacks, and think depression has set in a bit now. Was on 50mg for about 3 weeks before. But was up to 150mg earlier last year when I felt so good I gradually weaned off. Only for panic to return in December 18.

I was using antihistamine tablets for sleep i.e Sleepeaze from Boots if you live in the UK. They helped me a lot when I Started SERT and was weaning off a different AD.

Hi lorraine, if the meds are really making things worse and you are getting no signs of any improvement then maybe 50 is too high a dose for you, try reducing to 37.5 and settle on that then go up to 50 if you need to. But as always best to speak to your Dr first and let them know how you are feeling, 4 weeks is still early to see if they are going to work but if you really are not happy then seek help to change something

Has your mood lifted a bit after 5 weeks? I will be starting week 4 on 200 tomorrow, anxiety still ok, but still not myself because my mood is not there yet.

my mood is ok but my anxiety is still bothering me

So we are improving the other way round... my anxiety has improved first and your mood is better but anxiety not yet. Let's hope we both improve within the next two weeks.

If SERT is helping with mood but not with anxiety maybe the doc could add something? Hopefully Sert is enough for you x

i think im on too high a dose 150mg settled me in the past 200mg just seems to be making me worse

How long were you on 150 before increasing to 200? It takes up to 8 weeks on each dose for the optimal effects. I increased quickly too due to severity of my depression and extremely constant low mood. Anxiety was secondary.

Will you stay on 150 ? Is it mainly your anxiety that hasn't improved?
