Hi Lee, yes, this is totally normal, you may start to feel better shortly but will fluctuate between good and bad before it levels off. Are you taking for depression or anxiety. There is a lot of research to reflect that higher doses of Sertraline are more effective for anxiety. I was on 200mg Sertraline for 16 years with hardly any side effects and felt 100% fine until they pooped out Sep'18. Here i am 16 months later still trying to find the magic dose combination of Sert and Mirt. Currently on 200 Sert and 30 Mirt and starting to feel normality looming. The end of the tunnel appears close. Best of luck and i know that it is so impossible to have patience when you are stuck in the storm of it all. As well as the medication, i would recommend exercise, reading (getting lost in a good book is great) and constantly reminding yourself that you will beat this!

Mainly anxiety, but also depression because of the anxiety if u know what i mean, towards the end of the 12 or 13 weeks of being on 50 felt glimpses of hope and wanting to do things again just felt id bin on 50 that long with not much effect so decided to go up to 100 now feel worse again was ok for first 10 days now anxiety agitation no appetite has set in for last week now also take 15mg of mirtazapine at night been on that for almost a year coming down from 45 to 15 for last few months unsure wether to stop that as i find it hard to wake up and get going on top of feeling anxious etc. When i increased at first ten days i thought wow no side effects really not as bad as i thought it was going to be but then last week back to feeling like this.

Now ive got to look at it as even though i feel crap nowhere near normal.im not in the place i was in a year ago almost so in that respect im looking at it as a bit of progress so just keep going

Exactly. Always better to look backwards for improvement. When you project forwards you focus the rumination on the looping thought of why aren't i feeling normal yet when in fact you have made progress, no matter how much. Keep going and keep talking.

Hi Lee,
I have just joined this forum after reading most of the zoloft threads. I have been dealing with Generalized anxiety and panic for most of my life. I am 38 years old and live in Australia.
What you are experiencing is completely normal. I recently tapered off lexapro after 6 years thinking I would be Ok without it and have been on other ssri's over the years.
Long story short I need medication.....A few months off the meds and it all went to s**t as usual. My OCD and perfectionism creeps in and then the insomnia joins the party.... Followed by gut wrenching anxiety and intrusive thoughts that shatter this 6"2 100kg man and reduced me to tears daily. It took me a long time to ask for help and I hid it well.
Back to the zoloft, STICK WITH IT. I took 25mg the first week, 50mg for 4 weeks and have been on 100mg for 17 weeks. Still have tougher days then others but I am 80% back and the rough days are what I would have called good days when I relapsed. I think it was around the 13-14 week mark it started to do its thing on a more significant level. You are in the trenches right now with your dose timing. My P doc has found a lot of people tend to be "slow responders" to zoloft. Like has been mentioned, you wont suddenly be 100%. but the ups and downs will level out. He likes to allow 12-16 weeks on any given dose.
This has been the SLOWEST responding med I have been on, by far, but it is working. Its not what you want to hear but you have to give it a 100% chance to work at all doses to ensure you dont get on the meds merry go round. Even if you end up on 200mg.... who cares? Let the medicine do its job and you can then lower to a maintenance dose. I don't often post on the internet and have no social media but after the hell I have been through the last 6 months I just wanted to give a little hope back to someone else struggling. I had shocking symptoms from the anxiety too like extreme tinnitus and eczema from the stress along with the anxiety and thoughts. I work away a lot at the moment so may not be able to respond much but keep pushing forward mate.

Thanks mate feel absolutely terrible may also be due to the fact that ive missed my dose of mirtazapine for last 2 nights which ive been on for a year roughly got down to 15mg for last few months dont think that helps while im adjusting to sertaline
