Day 2

Hello I just started Zoloft 2 days ago 25mg a day and i am feeling HORRIBLE. I am extremely nauseas I have a headache I got severe cramps at one point I can’t stop shaking and I can’t get out of bed. I feel so sick. Has anyone else experienced this and made it through? I was having really bad anxiety before taking it so my doctor told me to try and now I’m beginning to want to just give up on it. I don’t know what’s worse the way I feel anxious or on this. Please help.

    Hi Abigail,

I can only go off how I initially felt when I started in 50mg. The doctor advised the first  two weeks would be tough and they were. I lost 9.5lbs in weight in those two weeks, felt very nauseous, extremely tired, very anxious, palpitations and the shakes. It does pass and unfortunately you feel worse before you feel better but gradually the side effects cease.  At present I only take 25mg as for me they constantly upset my stomach with a view to completely stopping them.

Hang in there, if u don’t think you can speak to your doctor there are plenty of different meds available.

    Good luck

The first few months for me were dreadful until I reached 200 mg (the dose for OCD); I had difficultysleeping and eating.  But I now feel a lot better.  It's a slow acting drug but once it kicks in, it works very well. I have also lost the weight I put on with paroxetine, which is a plus.

Hi Abigail, I had horrible side affects. Shaking, extreme anxiety , panic attacks plus much more. Ask your doctor for a valium , ativan, xanax anything that will take the edge off. It helped me tremendously.

It’s  pretty bad only on day 2 and I have never felt so sick in my life they gave me hydroxyzine to take as needed but I’m scared to pair the two.

I take ativan and have no interactions. I do get tired but it helps alot on the terrible stressed out days.

Yes i do but it was a long hard road to take. If your doctor thinks this is the med for you then try to hang in there.. it will get better. But if you think you can't handle it please talk to your doctor because there is other meds that they can give you. This med really saved my life. I was going down hill fast.

don't be afraid to take they hydroxine, my 14 year grand daughter takes it and it works well for her.  If they were worried about an interaction they would not of given it to you.  also maybe you can back down the dose to half?  I started at 12.5 and it really helped.

I was thinking of cutting the dose in half because I really dont want to give up since my anxiety has gotten so bad I feel like I needed meds but I cant take how horrible it’s making me feel today headache nausea I can’t even get up out of bed.

Everyone is different so if you’re v bad maybe go to the doc. I felt absolutely horrendous the forst two to three days. Like someone had poisoned me. Anxiety went through the roof, didn’t sleep a wink first night, felt so so sick but it did get better. Forst couple weeks are rough. I’m on week 5 and the issue I have is fatigue. Not sure it’s going to go away. This drug is not a walk in the park
