Andrew, were you on 100mg itself for 12 weeks? Did you feel desperate and foggy and sleepy up to 12 weeks?

I am wondering what's going on with my son. Maybe i will have a breakdown before he finally gets well...or never.

hi lee my son has been on on Sertraline for 10 weeks now, 6 weeks of that on 100mg. He was prescribed 15mg mirtazapine 4 weeks ago. He is always yawning and extremely sleepy. worse of all, he hasnt improved one bit. Am running out of what to do. Hes just turned 19 and has been having this depersonalisation disorder, thats what i think, since April 2018. Been off school and its really tough as he is a very good student and was gearing to go to medical school. He has tried cbt and hypno. but no luck.

Hi there what is mitrapizine used for? 🤔 Is that an anti psychotic 🤔 or for anxiety or an anti depressants? 🤔 I'm really sorry 🙏 to hear about your son, does he see a regular psychiatrist or just a gp

he saw the nhs psychiatrist once and she prescribed my son mirtazepine 15mg as he has intense vivid dreams and cannot sleep. it is an anti depressant but it makes him so drowsy. the trouble is my son still has those dreams, although he does sleep, which means he is not rested. doesnt solve the underlying issue instead he is more tired. i am wondering if the docs know how to solve the problem. he's tried many anti depressants that i am thinking maybe he should try anti psychotics. i dont know if its right. i have access to the psy at all. gp consultation is already difficult to arrange.

i DO NOT have access to the psy.

That sounds horrible. He needs to be red to his own psychiatrist for a complete work up. However, I don't think he needs anymore anti depressants that's for sure he needs an anti psychotic added to his regimen. I just started takin nozinan its an anti psychotic that's used to treat bipolar patients and people who have similar problems and it works well for me and it helps me sleep well at night and I don't have any side effects from it

Hey thanks for reply T. Do you have DPDR ? I am hesitant on antipsychotic as it is a very strong med for the brain. My son just turned 19. Also the psy has ruled out psychosis. What were your symptoms like? How fast did you get better and how are you now? i hope you are back on your feet.

Hi there I'm bipolar and I have very bad depression and anxiety and insomnia and add but I stopped taking my add meds two months ago because I don't want to be taking stimulants every morning because they just make my anxiety worse and my add isn't that bad anymore not like when I was a child and I'm not in school anymore so I don't need to be on meds for that at least. I've had psychosis in the past and I was in the hospital for a few days but other than that I haven't had any episodes after that two years ago. I take the anti psychotic for my severe insomnia that's all because I just cannot sleep at all at night so my psychiatrist prescribed me a new anti psychotic called noxinan and I take 50mg each night and it's a very low dose and I don't think I need to go any higher than that right now because I've only been taking it for a week so I'm still getting used to it but I don't have any side effects from it and it helps me sleep well at night 🌃 which I'm happy 😊 about. So don't be afraid to try it if you think 🤔 it will help you out and anti psychotic meds are no stronger than any other meds that people with mental health issues are prescribed all the time.

      hi Terri

Many thanks for your reply. You have a lot on your plate yet i sense that you are a very positive person. I am sure this strength that you have has helped you. Thanks for reassuring me about antipsychotic med. My son is so affected by his tiredness and racing thoughts everyday. Hasnt improved one bit since started Sertraline 12 weeks ago. I hope there are people out there who has similar mental issue and Sertraline works but takes much longer. I need to give him hope. Not sure if mirtazapine is good as he is more tired since taking it.

I really appreciate your reply . Keep us updated.

Are you able to get hold of gp easily? ask them. Maybe try 100mg and monitor. you are lucky to see some glimmer of improvement. thats good sign.

I've been taking 50mg of zoloft for almost a year now each day and it makes me feel drowsy so it's nice to be able to have a nap during the day and it has dropped my blood pressure so I haven't had to take my blood pressure pills in a very long time which is great and ivd lost a lot of weight too which is great for me but I have never heard of the other meds that you are taking. Are they anti depressants or are they just for anxiety? 🤔
