Day 24

Posted , 4 users are following.

Just an update....on 10mg, take first thing each morning. Went to Dr's yesterday as standard follow up appt. Explained my side effects, anxiety, some shaking in my left arm, suddenly feeling very hot (which lasts a minute or so) and feeling tired when getting out of bed. Dr said this is all fairly normal and it takes 3-4 weeks for meds to kick in. I'm hoping the anxiety does subside pretty quickly!

Hi, Citalopram should now start to stabilise in your system, it can take up to 8 weeks. I am on 10mg and now starting to feel better, been on them now about 2 months. I have only had a couple of anxiety attacks. No medication will cure your anxiety, it will just ease the syptoms and take the edge off. Have you tried or thought about counselling or therapies to deal with the issues that cause the anxiety.

Hi, I'm also on 10 mg and I get the shaky hands, headache, " funny feeling" yawns, insomnia and I'm on day 4.. Does this mean ill have this side effects for 4 weeks? I'm on day 4

Hi Jose, Everybody has different side effects and it doesn't mean that you will suffer these for a long time. I started on 20mg and my side effects were awful so dropped to 10mg afer a couple of weeks, side effects reduced and felt better after a couple of more weeks. It just takes a few weeks for you to feel more like yourself while the meds stabilise in your system. Don't worry too much about side effects. Try to relax and hopefully you will start to feel better soon.

Hi Elizabeth, thank you so much for your response, yes I guess I will have to be patience with the side effects, it's just they are so strong sometimes I can't get to relax and forget about them, but hopefully won't be too long and the body will get use to the meds soon and calm down! Lol ..

Thank you very much again for response and advice :-)

Jose I'm on day 13 of 20 mg still kinda shaky in the morning but starting to feel all over better. Since we all have some kind of anxiety/panic feeling In the first place I think it makes side effects even worse cause then we focus on them, vicious circle ha. Anyway good luck keep powering thru.

    Help please:

Quick question, I am with some friends out for lunch.. All of the sudden while talking to one of my friends I felt like " if the blood of my body wash rushing around all my body at 100 km per min!" My entire body felt very cold and shaky and could see my self " going" so had to seat down to be ok.. This happened around 14.40 Nd took my day 5 tablet at 14.00 like every day.. Anyone knows what this could be? Could it be cause of the tablets? I've had

I've had other side effects the past 4 days while taking then but nothing like this today!

Could it be one of my anxiety / panick attacks? Blood pressure change?

I don't know what to do really if to carry on with tabs and speak to my dr on Monday or stop..

    Thanks everyone

Jose I know exactly what you're talking about. I had the same thing about day 3 taking these meds. I call it a all over body rush it was horrible & lasted about 10 min. Luckily I was home & layed down & was terrified. Next day had a milder attack like that but none since. Got to be the meds settling in I guess.  Hopefully it won't happen again to you. Very scarey for sure.

Hello carol, thanks for your response, I had another of those " all over the body rush " an hour and half After the 1st one, so that's 2 in a period of 1 and half hours, and yes it's very very scary! :-(( on my way home and if I get another one will have to call a dr and ask.

Thanks again for coming back to me

Hope your Saturday is better than mine

Hi Jose I really feel for you. I don't want another one of those kind of attacks!  I 'm having a very nervous (for no reason) day.   When will we be "normal" again? Geez.  I do have a friend on this med for a year & it's changed her life for the better. So I guess there is hope! Hopefully smile

      Hi jose

how are you doing now? Are you ok?

      have you changed your medication?

anxiety can have a powerful effect and can be very scary. I found it helpful to understand how anxiety affects me - the emotions, the physical experience and my behaviour towards the feelings that my anxiety brings.

i can assure you that it is possible to tame your fear. Worth looking into CBT which is a talking therapy with a good success rate. Also worth pointing out that CBT & medication together have an even better success rate than CBT alone. Worth chatting to your physician about your plan for recovery.

      be kind to yourself.

Hello sleepy crow, thanks for writing, today much better, no side effects at all, and not anxiety either.. Your right anxiety and panick can be quite scary, I used to suffer from it 16 years ago and then went away completely till now that has come back again :-(

I have a dr appointment on Friday and till them if I get any anxiety attack I've got some diazepam to help me.,

I will deff mention to him about CBT and if I'm honest I think I want to avoid meds if I can but we will see.. Thanks for your interest and reply and hope you are keeping well

Good night bed time here X
