i am taking 50mg of sertraline but still experiencing all the horrible side effects nausea, dizziness. No motivation another day lying on my bed taking the odd dose of diazapam but trying to keep that to a minimum, yesterday I had a better day but today I feel I have gone 2steps backward. No appetite at all but forcing myself to eat something. I have an anti sickness tablet in my mouth as I write this. When will I see an improvement can anybody out there give me some hope.

Hang in there and it will get better. I too had many of the side effects when I first started taking Sertraline and definitely felt worse than before but read lots of positive stories of recovery and decided to stick through it. Then, suddenly after 6 weeks I had a breakthrough and it was a slow start, lots of ups and downs but I'm 5 months in now and feel better than I thought possible, sticking with it was the best thing I did and I'm sure it will be for you too. Good luck ?

No, I actually lost weight as I had no appetite but couldnt really afford to lose weight. I am gaining again now but only because my appetite is back

I am on 50mg, there were a few times during the first 2-3 months when I considered upping my dose as I felt better but still had bad patches but as time has gone by im having less bad spells and even when I do, I handle it so much better so I'm glad I didn't but everyone is different. If things went backwards for me, I'd risk the side effects all over again as I know how good the end results can be

I will be 6 weeks on Tuesday. I definitely feel better in that seeing tasks all the way through. However there are still times when I need to take a .25 of Xanax and I am still panicking driving. The only side effect that I have had is an upset stomach and now just in this last week I'm getting severe sweating. Other than that I haven't had any side effects actually in the beginning I did have some headaches. I am supposed to increase my dose but I'm afraid of getting more side effects and of gaining weight. I gain weight from another medicine I was on a really can't afford to gain more I was hoping I would feel better so I'll be able to go to the gym

I'm coming up to 5 weeks in sertraline at 50mg daily. Last week I was feeling a real improvement but this last week I have been a mess. I am trying to think positive but God it's difficult. I'm up til 2 or 3am drinking then going to bed telling myself 'oh tomorrow's a new day'. I haven't had a face to face conversation for 8 days and I am a Gemini so conversation is paramount. It's only me who can kick myself out of this but it's not easy.x

      Maria

Going to bed early, avoiding alcohol and other rec drugs are paramount for success in beating abd coping with anxiety. Please try not to drink for a good 3 months

As much as drinking can help you sleep and help you take the edge off,  it really is important NOT to drink when you are starting up.  Alcohol does not mix well with Sertraline and can make your depression worse.  Also remember that drinking while taking Sertraline makes one drink feel like two, two feel like four, etc.  I am sorry you have been having some rough days Maria.  Hopefully you start getting some relief soon.  We are here if you need someone to talk to.

I am on day 33 and I still have side effects. I actually panic there is something else wrong with me but it is the middle of the night and I am starting teaching tomorrow after 3 weeks off sick. So anxious. My heart is racing and I feel weak and dizzy. What if I can’t manage it? Looking back, I am better than I was at the beginning but this is taking so long. I keep hanging on until the 6th week but then I read it could take 8 weeks. Some more encouragement please.
