Day 3 Citalopram side effects

Posted , 5 users are following.

Hi all,

I have been prescribed 10mg citalopram for high anxiety and mild depression. I have bad health anxiety. I took 50mg setraline for 3 days and had the worst side affects ever so stopped after 3 tablets. Because of the setraline scenario I have decided to only take 5mg of citalopram and am on day 3 about to take my third tablet. I have been feeling a bit sicky today, more anxious and no appetite and just generally feeling down. Scared that third tablet is gonna make it worse. When will it get better?

Hope everyone else is going ok!

Hi, I know it’s hard but you’ve just got to hang in there. The main side effects will pass but it can take a week or two. I took citalopram for anxiety and for me the first time on citalopram was hard with increased anxiety, headaches, feeling like things aren’t real. I recovered well though and stayed on it for five years. But this is my second time,  I’m now nine weeks in on 20mg and this time I had anxiety really bad for the first week when I had to take diazepam three times a day to take the edge off until I settled down a bit which helped me, I’ve also had headaches and pain in my jaw but I took paracetamol for which helped. But this time I’ve had insomnia which has been the hardest for me. Most people though seem to sleep well with the citalopram so we’re all a bit different. It can be tough to start with but if you can hang in there you will get better. It is quite a slow drug to get into your system but it has changed peoples lives for the better I just wish I’d never come off it as I wouldn’t be back to trying to get it back into my system again. It’s now on the ninth week and I feel like I’m slowly getting there, I’ve improved slowly over the weeks and at times I’ve panicked because I’ve thought I’m slipping back but it’s all part of the recovery, we all have blips along the way. I hope you can hang in there over the coming days because it all should pass but speak to your doctor as there are things they can give you to help you. We’re here for you though.

Thanks Will, I can tell that the citalopram is working now but I’m going to give it some more weeks before I try and come off the zoplicone I think as it was waking in the night with panic attacks that frightened me the most so I just need to be in the right frame of mind I think to be able to tackle the waking up.🤞

      Maggie,

I did take it a night and the side effects woke me. I’m convinced I’m just sensitive to meds. I always was as a kid.

Now I take 10 mg im the AM with food.

And I take Xanax low dose a couple of times per week. I also have very weird

      Dreams.
