Day 3 is a charm

Posted , 3 users are following.

3rd day without alcohol. Even thou my day just started...I know that there is NO WAY I am going to let any recovery I have had in the last 2 days pass me by.

I awoke with a better mental attitude and feel better physcially.

Its been a full time job these last couple of days hydrating and eating properly.  Funny how with age...my body seems to get dehydrated WAY quicker with drinking. It really took 2 days for my lips not to feel dry and my mouth to lose some kind of awful taste it had from all the alcohol I drank.

Wondering now about personality disorders and how they negatively affect those of us that have them.  I think when I drink..my lows are so much lower because I start off with depression anyway and alcohol is a depressent.

Hi Misssy.  I am glad that you are feeling better today.  I think a lot of us suffer from Depression as well as Alcohol Use Disorder.  I wonder which came first.  Both, together, are very difficult to cope with.  Happiness just seems to be for other people.

Why do we look for happiness at the bottom of a wine bottle, or beer can, or shot glass etc.?

Do you take anti-depressant medication?  Some of them are a bad mix with alcohol.

I don't know what is worse....I don't TAKE my medication if I know I'm going to drink.  So....withdrawing from meds..but drink.

      I think my depression came first..I remember it as a kid....and I wasn't drinking.

      Today...I sat in sun 25 minutes...took a walk 8/10 of a mile....and lifted just minimal weights...drinking water.

I was tired after each of the physical things..even sitting in the sun wiped me out....but I feel proud now.

Goodonya, Misssy !   I am sure now, that I was always quite depressive... even as a child.  I have not had any therapy... I just sort of know.

Now that you are "over the episode", look at the whole thing as a victor... you have come through it.  Build on what you have learned.

That is true pride... achievement... beat it baby !!!
