Day 3 Post A&P Repair

Hello all!

As the title reads, I had an anterior and posterior repair on the 18th September. I had found this forum about a week prior to my surgery and found it very informative and supportive. However, some of the shared experiences really scared me and i was TERRIFIED going into theatre .

Well, I want to give back a little to this wonderful community of women and share my experience so far. I know it is early days and who knows what the next few weeks and months will throw at me but for now i feel terrific!

Apart from a little bit of tenderness from the episiotomy I have had very little pain. Some pressure in my backside if I sit for too long and a deep ache in my butt cheeks at times. Took some heavy duty pain killers on the first day but nothing needed now. Catheter came out the next morning and I am peeing with no issues. Took another day for the bowels to work but after a couple of doses of Movicol and Lactulose I have had a very loose bowel motion this afternoon. I think maybe the threat of an enema helped as well! Very light vaginal spotting. Minimal swelling.

My main issue now is constantly reminding myself to not do anything! I feel pretty normal (apart from some lingering tiredness) so am at danger of doing too much too soon. I refuse to risk this repair though so will behave myself!

So thank you to everyone who posts and comments on this forum. I learnt so much from all you ladies and will surely be trolling for more answers and advice over the next couple of weeks!

Happy healing everyone!

Glad all has gone well..... yes, you do have to remind yourself to take it easy as i do all the time.

I am 4 weeks post op which I had complications but I am finally starting to get out and about, walking to the shops etc and doing bits of housework..... I find that I am tired and if I have been out and about a lot I feel quite weary. I have started ironing but can only manage a few items at a time as I can feel it in my stomach.

Good luck with your continued recovery.

One week down now and the recovery continues well (I think so anyway!).

Having really tired days and then feeling good days. Still resting lots, no housework, cooking etc.

Try and lie flat for at least 2-3 hours in the afternoon otherwise I get a really achy backside.

Nil pain, bowels working well with Movicol each evening, nil bladder issues.

Bleeding has been very light, a little heavier today but nothing I am overly concerned about.

Am getting a bit sick of reading, Netflix and crocheting!

    Happy healing everyone!
