Day 4 and doing good!

Posted , 7 users are following.

Well it's day 4 on cit, and despite all the people who have described their experiences of the side effects, which made me reluctant to start taking them? but willing to to play the no pain no gain game i started. I have to say that so far i have only experienced yawning and dry mouth! my wife says I have now become calmer and less stressed? no panick attacks no anxiety at 3 in the morning, good nights sleep the past 2 nights all this despite the doctor telling me this would take 2 weeks to work? I am clearly one of the lucky ones!

First of all well done. You're very lucky to be getting benefits that quickly.

I've been on Cit. for about 6 weeks now ( 2 1/2 weeks on 40mg) and am still getting headaches, feeling nausious and am finding i'm extremely lethargic and generally have no get up and go at all. I'm depressed and my anxiety hasn't improved at all. Hopeful that CBT will be of help but really do not know about this for certain. Good luck to you.

Glad to hear you are doing well.  I think it mostly boils down to chemistry, which is why certain drugs cause people issues, and certain drugs work wonders for them.  Citalopram worked wonders for me several years ago.  in recent years, I've tried it and similiar drugs and had horrible reactions to them, so I guess medications are not 'one size fits all'.  Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't.  It's nice when they do deliver, though.

Sounds great, i had bad nausea when i started on them. People say, and I have experienced myself that they do aid sleep. I know a couple of people who have been prescribed them just for this reason, which may be why you are now sleeping through...x

It's great that you're doing so well on them and they are taking effect so quickly,  can I ask how many mg are you taking?

Thats great to hear Dave i have just started taking the drug again as was on it last year and really helped me with anxiety/depression. I was in such a bad way late last year and seriously never thought i would get through it and felt down and stressed for the rest of my life but the drug really helped me control myself. Stick at and just be weary when your feeling better not to come off it straight away as I wish i had stayed on the lower dosage for longer as back on them now due to a relapse.

Im just at peace with myself as i never wanted to admit i suffereed from anxiety or depression as didnt want to be different at looked for jobs and people to blame. I used to think i was the only one who felt this way and as my doctor advised me he said its really common and mentioned that I was on a low dosage and might just need that to help mellow me out.

Be great to hear how you get on this the next few weeks.

      Hi Mark

Many thanks for your comments very kind of you! I am now at day 8 and the last couple of days I have still had good nights sleep but yesterday woke up in a black mood and felt a little nausious? but today although it started with similar symptoms by the afternoon I was on a complete high just like I used to be! probably one of the happiest days for me in a good few months! so something is clearly happening? Thayt said I have now eliminated what I blame as the cause of all this which was a very high pressure job which I have now quit (money isnt everything!) and we have just started our own business, A Tea Room,  which meant completely renovating the tearoom, completely renovating the house that come with it, moving house and holding down my full time job! no wonder im in cuckoo land!! we were over there in 2012 for my wifes 50th and I really envy you guys! your life style is so so so much more relaxed than ours! I was very sad to come home!

      Do keep in touch

      Kind regards

      Dave

THats great to hear and everyone gets different symtoms am on my second week and already find myself feeling much more positive and been going to the gym a lot more frequently and just stoppied about things i cant control. Yeah i know what you mean about a high pressured job i used do IT support and even though people dont see it as a hard job its like working on the phone constantly, then having people come see you all the time and email then not really getting any time to breathe.

Were you in Perth? Australia is a beautiful place, its hard as i'm here by myself the family are in the UK and even though I have just met someone special in my life been single for a long time. The tearoom business sounds so cool where abouts are you based in the UK?

      Hi Mark

Thanks for the reply, we were in Queensland, landed in Brisbane and then took 10 days driving up as far as Cairns stopping off a couple of nights here and there. and then finally flying back down to Sydney en-route home for a couple of days. You can vist our tearoom at ________ you might even want to like it? you would be very welcome to come and visit if and when you are in the UK? It must be hard to have your loved ones so far away but nice that you have someone in your life over there! cheesygrin our lives have changed dramatically here but my wife is a real stalwart and my best friend she is truly amazing!! we have a beautiful little quaint chocolate box cottage that comes as part of the package and life is getting better by the day! Just wish this anxiety and depression would go away! I guess just take each day as it comes and try to be as positive as possible is answer? it's really nice to chat with someone like yourself who is experiencing similar issues? I have included a picture of the cottage for you to see where we live, we are so lucky to have this!! you can see the tearooms on our facebook page (hope you like it?) we are based in Longleat forest in Wiltshire

      speak soon

      Kind Regards

      Dave
