Day 5 gabapentin

Has anyone here been prescribed this drug for uses beside pain? My doc started me at 200mgs a day (bid) for bipolar treatment as a way to treat GAD and depression. It's a low dose to be sure and I've messed around with the times of day to feel it iut. Was at 630a and 630p but the pm kept me awake and that long between I started to feel crappy. Now, about 6 hours post dose i start feeling fluish and weak and my heart is racey and I am shakey with a headache. Is this the gabapentin or anxiety from starting a new drug?!

I take a 300mg capsule at bedtime. Mine was prescribed for extreme restless leg syndrome. (So, bad that I was literally up for 3/4 days at a time). I've been on it for a little over a year now. I have not had any of those symptoms.I will say for me it was heaven sent. Two days after starting it I didn't feel the urge to jump out of bed & roam the house all night. The rls was making me tired & extremely grumpy at home & work. BUT I also take an ambien at night to help sleep. But I would most definitely mention those symptoms to your doctor. They put me on Trazadone for anxiety, and despite the gabapentin working, my legs started getting quite restless again. I stopped the Traz & feel back to normal. Could other meds mixed with the gabapentin be causing your conditions? Couldn't hurt to ask. Good Luck

I've always been extremely hesitant with my meds for treatment. This is the first drug I've ever let my doc's add to my mood stabilizer with is another anticonvulsant. From everything I've read from patient reviews to scholarly articles it should be heaven sent for my anxiety and depression (can't take antidepressants or benzos). I'm only 5 days in so time will tell but tonight around hour 6 after my second dose I started feeling really really terrible so I jumped in here. Should not mix negatively with my current meds, and both are at very low doses because I am extremely drug sensitive
