Day 5- I feel like I’m dying.

Okay folks, day 5 post op from my hemorrhoidectomy and I can honestly say that this is worse than the three vaginal births ive had. I had my first BM on day 3 (it was diahrrea and not as bad as everyone said it would be), just lots of stinging during and for a while after. i had to take mag citrate because i couldnt go. im still doing fiber 3x a day and colace 2x a day.

I can barely walk still. This procedure has kicked my ass, literally! I am on oxy, dilaudid, valium, and 600mg ibprophen and im still uncomfortable. my urine retention is bad, i can only empy my bladder while submerged in the bathtub or by squirting hot water on my vagina sitting on the toilet. i only get pain relief from soaking in a hellishly hot bath. My husband goes back to work on Monday and im terrified ill still be in agony like i am now. we have a 3 year old and a six month old.

SOMEONE TELL ME THERES A LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL 😦

Sorry to hear it isn't going well, how are you now? I know that many people basically lived their first week in a hot tub, go for it and it can only be better, I feel quite good today 12 days post op, keep your spirit up, be patient, persistent and keep fighting!

Honestly I understand the being at home with little ones. I have a 2 year old, who is sometimes a bit demanding. I had my worst pain while I was home alone with my little one. I have issues with constipation with pain killers. You are taking quite a bit, I can only imagine how backed up you are. maybe ask for a numbing cream. It has helped me quite a bit. I use the numbing cream before my bowel movements and after. I mix in a hemorrhoid cream or hydrocortisone cream to help with the swelling and itching. I am on day 19 post op and it is still painfull to go. I was at a point of hopelessness, thinking the pain would never stop. I actually could tell that it would be super painful and I couldn't bare to deal with it, so I read other actually passed stool in their tub or sitz bath. I have unfortunately had to do that a few times. It is really gross, very degrading, you may cry because of feeling defeated. I am going to tell you that the instant relief was immeasurable. I've held the shower head to my bum on the softest setting, and the water almost massaged everything to help calm the spasming, stinging, burning, and pain down quite fast. It will get easier, it will get better. It won't be great, but it will be manageable. remember to take your fiber and drink a lot of water. Even if you think you're drinking enough, eat popsicles, eat jello, drink more. Seriously, drinking plenty of water is essential to your bowels. Bananas help too! Meat is binding, so lay off of it as best as you can. It sucks! Hang in there. I do feel there is an end to this eventually. I hope so anyway. Good luck!

Im glad to know that im not alone. I will try to increase my fluids today also, ive only had 2 bm's since the surgery on Monday and it was basically liquid from all the fiber and laxitives ive been taking. Today i have a lot of itching which tells me its healing but I know im backed up and my next bm is going to be hell. im also having what seems to be some leakage which is gross and makes me feel disgusting 😦 im wearing panty liners for that...ugh...

be careful with your laxitives/stool softeners. They have a stimulant which then makes your body push. When I was taking them it made my body just push so hard I was in fear of wrecking everything this horrible surgery was for. I started to try and lay off of the heavy medicine and do more tylenol. I was taking 1,000 mg 3 times a day with my vicodin 1 time maybe two times a day. I was taking meloxicam in the morning with a glass of metamucil then my tylenol. The numbing cream has helped tremendously. I also use hemorrhoid wipes that have witch hazel in it. It burns for as few seconds but helps to calm things down. It also seems to help with the swelling as well. I was using regular cottonel wipes at first, but it just burned so bad and then seemed to chap things up. I found out that there is a drying agent in those, so I stopped using them. Now it is just painful to have a bowel movement and a bit uncomfortable a little while after. There is no fix all for this. I really wish there was. Believe me. I've been cut hip to hip for 2 cesareans and again for my hysterectomy, that was some pretty bad pain, and I honestly would rather do that again then this. EVER AGAIN!! hopefully you find some relief. I know the fear of the oncoming pain is pretty bad, but the relief after the pain calms down is better than the discomfort of trying to hold it in. The discharge is gross, yes I agree. I had bright red blood quite a few times and was worried something was wrong. I was told not to worry unless it was dripping continuously or pouring out. That it is a very vascular area and some blood is to be expected especially since it is being irritated on a regular basis. Good luck my dear. I don't have answers but I may have some suggestions.

so my colace doesnt have any stimulant in it. im taking the miralax every 8 hours because i havent gone in a few days. And yes, the discharge is gross 😦

sounds about rite, try alternating 800mg of tylenol every 6 hr with 800mg motrin, it seems to work better then the oxy...

Hang in there, after week 3 or 4 you'll feel alot better and before you know it it will be a year past...
