Day 5 of a forced Oxycodone

Okay, so I’m on day 5 of a forced Oxycodone ending. I’ve been on Oxy for about 2 years due to different tears on my lower back. In these 2 years, I’ve seen that I’m not able to follow a prescription, taking a months worth (4 pills a day 80mg) in about 10 days. Sometimes taking 13-15 pills a day (260mg). I realize that I easily could have od’d several times with this amount but amazingly haven’t! That said,  my dr had me on a weeks prescription for 4 months which seemed to help but then started giving me more than that (2 weeks worth and than a months worth). I knew I should have said please stick to a week since that was working but I couldn’t say no. So, now I’m on day 5 drug free because I ran out too early. The old me would run to an ER or go to my pain dr and beg him for a new script but I’m not. I still have diarrhea and am very fuzzy, feeling out of it/out of sorts. I read that the physical symptoms typically end 5-7 days but this fuzzy feeling has just come... this is new! I have a regular apt with my pain dr on Tuesday and I know I should cancel it so I don’t get a new script but I still need to see him. I’m just not sure I have the strength to say no!! Any and all help is needed and appreciated

Go and see your GP and be totally honest with him he will help you, you can't continue like this. There are plenty people on this forum who have struggled with this drug and will tell you the same,.

Have the docs said how long you will need them and are you having any other treatments to help with recovery?

Good luck and let me know how it goes, stay strong 😊

      Hi Carolineq8,

He knows I’ve struggled with this and we found a good solution with the pills refill each week, instead of the typical month he usually does. That worked wonders!

As for how long, we really don’t know. When 1 tear heals, another one appears months later.  I have DDD (degenerative disc disease) and not sure how and why things were triggered but they did!! Based on that, I’ve had a few procedures for the years that have worked, along with PT.  I’ve tried acupuncture, chiropractic, crio therapy, etc...

Thanks for your response! I truly appreciate it!

Ah it's awful and I totally understand what your going through, the problem with this drug is the awful side effects, I guess you could say the same about all of them😡

Have you looked into a spinal cord stimulator? I havnt personally it's not an option for me but my friend has just had the trial with good results, have you tried support bands or braces they may be able to give you some extra support so not damaging your back so easily😊
