Day 7 post LAVH BSO, no HRT

Since I got a lot of good advice on this site in the past (different forum) i figured i should post an update on my recent surgery. i had a laparoscopically assisted vaginal hysterectomy with bilateral tubes and ovaries removed. No HRT, other health concerns preclude it. Surgery went very well, i am 51 and was not yet menopausal. i went home the same day. first 48 hours i had diaphragm and shoulder pain from the CO2 they use to do the laparoscopic, but that went away. managed pain just with Ibuprofen, no narcotics which can make you constipated. i have 3 little cuts which are healing well. i sleep like a baby, and for the first time in a year my hip does not hurt. stress incontinence, which was made worse by the uterine prolapse, seems gone. if not, no big deal, i had learned to manage it. i use a stool softener (colace) twice a day, and a sennakot laxative at night, to avoid straining. i walk 10-15 minutes every few hours and my husband gives me lovenox shots every morning. i think that is the most annoying part right now. i have a checkup on 10 june. so all in all, a bit more involved than a root canal, but nothing compared to, say, having a baby. i did not do any rectocele/cystocele repair, we will see how that holds up. i prepared by doing breathing exercises and cold showers. i am doing it a little (2-3 breath cycles and 30 seconds cold at the end of a hot shower) but maybe it helps with hormones, since i am in surgical menopause but feel ok? we will see how it goes. hugs and best wishes to all.
