Day 8 Venlafaxine 75mg XR, side effects really kicked in

Hello fellow Ven travellers,

I did a swap from Citalopram 20mg to Venlafaxine 75mg XR eight days ago. Saw a psychiatrist here in the UK to do so, paid for it myself, after pretty useless advice from my GP. The citalopram just wasn't working properly for me, it was giving me side effects but no real relief.

The first three days of the swap onto Venlafaxine were pretty seamless but tiny bit of nausea and wooziness.

Since about day 4, I have had increased agitation/nervousness and slightly lower mood.

Just checking in to see if this is all within the range of expected side effects. And for a bit of reassurance, to be honest. Should have swapped antidepressants sooner really, was struggling round on Citalopram for around a year before I conceded they weren't really doing the trick.

If ven has worked for you, would love to hear about it, and roughly how long you've had to wait it out ...

Thank you x

    Hi sunny762

I started like you on citalopram then went onto 75mg ven. They did work for me although the reason for my change was due to more issues in my life which had made me more anxious. they did take a while to kick in and I did have the side effects. The wooziness in particular, stiff jaw and slightly bipolar!!!! It did subside though. See how you get on for the next few weeks it should settle down. if not go back to the GP and make sure they address the issue. Good luck.

Thanks maz, now just over two weeks and I've started to settle down. Have had a few good days, much calmer. The increased agitation was horrible..Sleep is now also beginning to settle down. Thank you for replying. Beginning to feel saner....
