I had a lot of pain for about a week but apparently there are something you can take to help with that, I didn't know about it and was in agony. I think you should wait a couple of days at least to be on the safe side. Theoretically there is no reason you can't work if you had to depending on what you do, but bear in mind  you might need to pee frequently until the inflamation goes down, or whatever it is.

PS I don't want to scare you, the "agony" was when I was trying to pee, otherwise it doesn't hurt

No way, at least I couldn't. I had burning and urgency for three days. After that it was fine. I'd count on three days at home.

If you have to, you can but do not recommand.

The burning and for first 10 days, should not to lift anything heavy.

Also the next day you will be very slow.

Pls take it easy 3-4 days before deciding what's next. Took me 6-7 days to feel comfortable and officially pee !! Doing self catherizing and self voiding combination now and as Dr Bagla said, a month is about right to feel normal again. Read all postings on your back to work questions and agree wit heir suggestion/ recommendations. No need to rush anything, let healing take its time. Took a long time to get a full blown BPH; it will take a while to properly heal. Best of luck with your decision. Cheers ...
