Day eight extreme anxiety.

It’s my first time on here. I thought it would help me more to talk about it here because I’m only on week 2 of this med and I’m not feeling any better, in fact today I feel really anxious and I took a propranolol 8mg and I’m on 50mg on sert. Also I got a fizzy head and blury vision, any advice on how to calm down from this? And when will the side effects go?

Thank you I felt the same way and I thought about increasing my dose but it’s early yet and it’s only been over a week of taking them. I hope things improve because I feel like I’m going crazy most of the time but I know that the anxiety talking. xx

2 more weeks and you'll feel great. Just hang in there!

propranolol definitely helps and is a safe medication. Unfortunately alleviated level of anxiety is a side effects of Sertraline and every other SSRI (in the beginning).

Atival (Lorazepam) helps a lot with anxiety specially during the first two weeks but you have to be careful as it is soooo effective in reducing anxiety over short periods that you might get hooked on it.

What my doctor generally does is prescribe Lorazepam for the first 2/3 weeks so I can handle the side effects better.

The symptoms will go away, I promise. everyday by a small percentage but once you pass this phase, you'll be a completely new person. Even if your doctor ups your dosage to a 100 (which is typical), the symptoms won't be as bad and as long.

Thank you! I just got to hang in there for now as it still early stages but i will go back to my GP and ask for something to ease these side effects, i just dont want to be anxious all the time and the horrible feelings and thoughts.

I was thinking about increasing dose but its far too early for that but i heard its more therapeutic than the Low dose. xx

Hi Rose. Hope you don't mind me messaging you. Having read your comment here I have taken some heart from it as I am suffering the same side-effects as yourself. Anxiety has shot up the last few days and I keep getting horrible thoughts that make me panic (I'm 3 weeks in to taking Sert). I was wondering how you were getting on and whether the side- effects had lessened at all? Hang tough! That's what I'm trying to do.

I miss still extremely anxious and I have a painic attack today in the shop, it was awful the fizzy head has gone but I do get headaches and a bad stomach. I’m only on week 2, so I hope it works in a few more weeks otherwise I will try something else.
