Dazed and Confused !

Following an endoscopy got diagnosed with Barretts oesophagus and oesophagitis yesterday! I am a nurse so of course I always think of the worst. Thank goodness I have found this forum- people in the same boat. They also found on pelvic CT that I have a 4x5cm 'lump' between my ovary and uterus but they are hoping that this is a cyst or fibroid!! Thought I was going to be diagnosed with Hiatus Hernia or Coeliac- Am in shock!

Those of us who have Barrett's and know it are the lucky ones. We'll get regular surveillance screening every few years and in the unlikely event that pre-cancerous dysplastic changes are seen, we can have it ablated.
There are probably one million people in the UK with Barrett's but only 10% know it. It's those who haven't been identified who are at greater risk of developing the cancer and they may learn too late.
My particular 3cm of non-dysplastic Barrett's has remained unchanged for at least 21 years and will probably be the same when I die of something completely unrelated.
