De Quervain's Tendon Release: Surgery - how long before pain goes?

Hello! Has anyone had surgery for De Quervain's tendon problem, and if so how long was it until the pain disappeared? My sister-in-law had this surgery 4 weeks ago and still has pain in her hand when using it. She says it's not a burning type pain like she had before, it's more a feeling of tightness and soreness. She says the doctor who did the surgery said she had a lot of inflammation around the tendon so we were wondering if maybe that might mean a longer recovery time; we've read online that many people are more or less pain-free by 4 weeks. She's keen to get back to work, but her job involves using her hands so obviously she can't go back until she's sure her hand is fully healed. She has an appointment with the doctor in a week or two, but is just curious to know if other people have still had pain 4 weeks after surgery. I'll be very grateful if anyone has any thoughts on the matter, any information that might put her mind at rest.
