Dead Arm

Hi guys,

I was just wondering if any of you get dead arms for seemingly no reason as part of your fibro? It's been happening to me on and off all day and I am curious to know if it is a new fibro symptom after cropping up or something new altogether.

    Hi Leimodunewra

I get dead arms a lot, mainly at night and first thing in the morning. I constantly have pain in my wrists and elbows an pins and needles in my fingers. Occasionally they swell too. I assumed it was all part and parcel of Fibro !

Yep - me too. It was the first symptom I had. I have massages which help. did try physio but that just made the pain absolutely unbearable.  It's a very odd feeling isn't it.

I have found that my hands, especially my fingers are always cold now, I used to complain that my hands were always too hot! Useless for making pastry!

I have been referred for physio but haven't started yet! I try and have a hot stone massage every week, but have been too painful to go for 3 weeks now.

It really is and it's such a nuisance. It makes typing that bit more difficult.

I just started to suffer from this recently and hadn't noted anyone else mention it until last week when a person on another thread posted about it.  I wake up every morning and my right arm is like a lump of lead.  In order to turn over or move I have to use my left arm to lift it as it won't lift on its own.  It eases off once I get moving but if I do anything repetitive, like keyboard or holding my phone or tablet, it goes dead again and gets really painful.  I now sit with a cushion under my armpit which helps and the last few nights I've tried putting a small pillow between the arm and body and it does seem to help a little.

Hi, I have been having pins and needles and a feeling of 'heaviness' my left arm in particular feels like a lead weight, the first time it happened about 3 years ago I was admitted to hospital with a query of whether it was cardiac related ! I'm sure it is part of my fibro symptoms as it has been happening more often and for longer periods of time.
