Dealing with Anxiety

I have been dealing with anxiety the past few weeks. While I have had panic attacks in the past while I have been out, these "mini" attacks have started at home. Started a few weeks ago while showering I suddenly felt like I was restless and had to get out. Then things seemed to get worse as night fell. My mind would race and I just felt I had to move. Spoke to my doctor and she suggested starting medication such as Lexapro. I also started a meditation app about 3 weeks ago and at times that seems to help. I just need to get some good sleep. While I go to sleep I usually only last about 1 1/2 to 2 hours and then am up most of the night. My doctor wanted to prescribe some ambien but I'm afraid to take that (if only for a few nights) for fear of any side effect. It seems that as long as I am busy, I'm okay but when I am still my mind starts to race.

I know what you mean. If I don’t stay busy my mind will go immediately to the negative, worries, fear. The only way I can get to sleep is by listening to white noise such as rain, the ocean,. They have so many different sounds on YouTube! Sometimes if I’m really anxious I will take a half of a melatonin tablet which works great.

but even during the day I have to stay busy or I get what they call mental movies in my head which are basically my mind thinking about what could happen or what’s most likely to happen etc. very frustrating.

if you really are having trouble sleeping, you could try the Ambien and if you don’t like how it feels you could stop it. feel free to private message me anytime! Take care

Thanks Jan. My GP wanted to prescribe a few tablets of Ambien but I'm a little bit afraid to take that. I did buy some sleeping pills OTC that has diphenhydraime in it, which I believe is Benadrly(?). Anxious about trying it because I worry about side effects. Took a 10 mg of Melatonin OTC sleeping pill last night, While I fall asleep soon, I only sleep about 1 1/2 to 2 hours and then am up the rest of the night. I am getting punch drunk.
