Dealing with HPV diagnosis and no help from doctors

I Recieved letter in the mail a few months ago stating that my pap smear results were abnormal, and that i also had HPV
I Decided to go in and see my doctor for a follow up, and ask questions . -
ALL I WAS TOLD WAS THAT IT WAS COMMON, and it should go away on its own, come back in a year for another pap smear
i have no idea what the strain is.
i do know that it may be low risk because of the fact that they won't perform any other tests or procedures, not even a colposcopy.
i tried to get a second opinion at a different doctors office but the doctor shut me down immediately and said she wont be able to necessary tests that are required to do after being diagnosed with hpv because of the fact that I'm not 24-25 years old. im only 23. can you believe that?? At this point im not sure what to do anymore. ive become very depressed, often feeling like i cant get close to the guy im talking to because of this very reason.

its upsetting how little information they give you with such diagnosis
theres basically two groups - the kind that can cause cervical cancer ( im assuming thats what yours is ) and the kind that causes warts . theres over 140 strains so knowing that there are those two subgroups is all that really matter .
it is VERY common , 80% of people come into contact with the virus by the time they are 26 .
you have to boost your immune system , increase your vitamin intake and your body should clear the virus on its own within 2 years
taking L-lysine ( the vitamin) helps alot , you can also follow a specific HpV diet that includes alot of specific vegetables that will help boost your immune system and fight it off - drinking lots of water and getting lots of sleep help too
if you have a low risk , that means you had abnormal cells that could potentially turn into cervical cancer , but its not bad enough to need more treatment yet . thats good news !
wearing a condom when having sex will help reduce the risk of spreading it to a new partner , but chances are he has already been exposed to it previously in his life .
dont over think it , dont stress or obsess about it !

thank you for taking the time to explain it to me. I'm not entirely sure if mine is the kinda that causes cervical cancer. i believe mine may be low grade, but i haven't noticed any warts. It angers me knowing theres woman out there my age who have the same diagnosis and are lucky enough to have further testing done such as a colposcopy.
But i cant even get any further testing because my doctor simply refuses and says its pointless because colposcopy isnt within my age group yet.
going back next yesr for another pap will only give me the same results i already know it.
i dont mean to sound like a negative nancy. lol but again thank you so much for your time to share this with me and thank you for your helpful advise!

Go to another doctor. Your doctor should have told you if it was low risk (low risk you can get genital warts) or high risk. If it's high risk your doctor would have wanted a colposcopy. I've had several OBGYNs mostly because Ive had bad luck with them moving or leaving the practice, but all of them have always wanted to do a colposcopy for HPV.

may i ask how old you are? Because ill be 23 soon and i was told not until the age 24-25 is when they will consider doing a colposcopy , biopsies and so on. so if you're within the right age group that may be why you were suggested to have further testing done upon your diagnosis.
ive gone to a different clinic to see a different docotr just a few days ago and she told me when i explained to her my results from the 1st doctor , she basically agreed with him and said she thinks its pointless to do another pap smear on me because it hasnt been a full year yet , and because im not within the right age group for them to consider doing those kind of tests or biopsies.
i decided to schedule an appointment this week to see an actual OBGYN. Im wondeirng if they will only treat me the same as my forst dont since its in the same doctors office as the first., instead its an obgyn rather than a family practice doc. do you think that will be a waste of my time again? should i switch my doctors completely ?
