Decrease in Dosage

I finally got my doctor to agree to a trial decrease in my meds. I was on 50 mgs of Losartan after steroid induced high bp. My readings had been great hovering around 115-120/70-80. I have been on 25 mgs. for a week now with similiar readings. Would I already see the numbers increase if I needed to stay at the higher dose? Or would it take longer?

Hi Barbara. Well done in getting you doctor to listen to you.  I beleive it could take upto six weeks before sole tables totally get out of your system. but it will depoend on your metabolisms. Give your body time to adjust.

Even if it does go up a little. dont get stressed about it, because that will make your bp rise. A slightly highter bp has got to be better that the side effects you might have been having, and hopefully you can eventually leave them off all togeatehr.

Thank you for your reply. I had to send my bp readings to my doctor and I qualified that I understand it could take a bit longer to know if I have to go back up to 50mg and she said I would have known after a few days if the drop to 25 wasn’t working. Very confusing.
