decreasing dosage

Hi, I am currently decreasing my dose from 225mg to 150mg as i felt the 225mg was too strong a dose for me and the 150mg suited me better.  On the 225mgi had dissorientation, depersonalisation. increased sweats and increased heart palps, increased anxiety and brain zaps.  I was on 225mg for 14 weeks and was feeling worse and worse by the end.  I felt better on the 150mg and felt i probably needed to give them longer as i increased after only being on the 150mg for 7 weeks.

My question is....Has anyone done this before and how long does it normally take for the 150mg to balance out again as ive been on them for nearly 5 weeks and im still not feeling 100.  Im very up and down.

I felt that venlafaxine wasn't working for me so I started reducing from 150mg to 75g it wasn't easy I was really dizzy upset stomach etc. If you don't think they're working I'd go back to the doctor and try something else. I'm still not off them, I had a suicidal episode recently they are definitely not working

      Hi Joanna,

Sorry to hear you've had a tough time. Hopefully you find one that works for you properly. I'm hoping the 150mg will work better if I give them longer to adjust but if not then it back to the drawing board. I am very up and down so still need it to balance out. All the best

    Hi James,

How did it turn out? I am trying the same thing, and after two weeks at 150, I still have vertigo, ringing in my ears, and today I have been a mess emotionally. I really want to be lower, as I have felt really aloof and unable to cry, even at funerals. But this is hard.

    Thanks!

      Hi Aron,

I went to 13 weeks at 150mg and I was just about to give up and see my psychiatrist as I wasn't feeling any better when for some reason my tablets got discontinued.  I was on immediate release tablets brand viepax and got switched to extended release tablets and was told by the GP to give it another 8 weeks as the ER can make anxiety better and due to the compounds they are made with can be like starting them all again.  The side effects were awful and I'm currently at 7 weeks and made an appointment to see a psychiatrist for this coming Wednesday because Ive felt awful but low and behold over the past 48 hours something seems to be happening.  My stomach sees to be strengthening and I feel a bit better.  I do know that I have to take them at the same time each day pretty much exactly due to the short half life of them but if they don't work going forward I'll come off them and try something different.

What are you taking at present IR or ER and what do you suffer with?

      Thanks

      James
