Deep Tissue Massage

Hi all I am 8 months post op TKR have been very lucky in my recovery progress. Am pain free and have full range of motion. I do have stiffness from the back of my knee when moving after sitting for a while but recently it seems to be getting worse even affecting my range of movement. Am thinking it could be scar tissue? I’ve booked in with a sports masseuse for a consultation, could this help? Thanks

Hi,
A Gua Sha tool used daily by my physical therapist and massage therapist 3X weekly for 3 months helped me to break up scar tissue that kept my leg from straightening. It was stuck at -45 degrees extension and 90 degree flexion for almost 6 months due to post op complications. I didn't want more surgery and now have -3 degree extension and 110 flexion 9 months after my LTKR, so massage with the Gua Sha tool worked well for me. I'm getting a Synvisc injection tomorrow in the right knee to delay TKR on that knee. My left knee still gets stiff after sitting for a while and I get pain on the calf but it is getting less as I rebuild muscle. Good luck!
