Deep Wound On Forearm...

Hey everyone... I wasnt having any success finding answers online so I'm gonna hopefully get answers here. I recently had an accident in the kitchen (Being really stupid) and got a deep slice by a very sharp knife on my forearm. It was at least a half inch deep and very much warranted a trip to the ER. It didnt hurt though and I really dont think I was in shock. I've heard of deep wounds not hurting as much as shallow ones, but the answers online as to why were not specific enough to my situation. Am I superman without the impenetrable skin? Appreciate anyone who takes the time to read and/or answer this.

Good question but I don't have much of an answer either.Perhaps your forearm was in shock. I remember as a kid my leg was cut by glass and I didn't feel anything at all until I felt "something" on my foot. I looked down at my foot and it was covered in blood. My leg had gone totally numb. I don't know but perhaps my leg was in shock because of the cut. I did need stitches and still have the scar today after over 50 years. When I have had shallow cuts they have been more painful. Weird. Not a "cut" but sometimes I have pulled on a hangnail rather than getting the clippers with a painful result just for being lazy. My bad.
