Delayed infection after achilles surgery

I wonder if anyone else has experienced this problem? I had surgery for an achilles rupture on November 13th. All went well. Stitches removed 2 weeks later no infection. I was mobile and using Vacoped boot easily. Suddenly at about 5 weeks post operation part of the wound became painful, red and started to weep. As I suspected the doctor thinks it's now infected and has prescribed antibiotics. Now I have to go back to hospital to get it checked out. It's painful to walk on and has delayed my recovery. Has anyone else had this problem? Did it clear up ok?
