Denied contact to mods

Have you tried to contact moderators and after filling in the form been denied it being sent?
I have a valid thing to say so I'll say it here instead. The large social network sites that you've put beside our comment boxes interfere with editing sometimes.

Are you having the same problem with the fb, twit and good symbols obscuring your editing?

I just checked the links and got "/discuss/denied-contact-to-mods-414102">", so they are working, but conflicting with Feedback button javascript, which is easily to do these days.

Adblock only blocks ads - Facebook, Twitter and Google+ are not advertising, they are for posting the post from here to your profiles on those websites, if you use them, that is... lol

I did a system restore but it didn't work, it stopped microsoft security essentilals from working properly for a while and I can't get back to the java I have before.
But the problem in this website was before that.

You don''t need JAVA these days, jQuery took over ages ago and if programs don't use that then they do not comply to the latest standards.

I only play games like cards and puzzles. My son tried to get me into Morrowwind etc but I don't get pleasure out of killing monsters etc and the noises are so disturbing I can't handle them.
When I tried Morrowwind I ended up sitting by a river admiring and enjoying the beautiful graphics and calming music while I was supposed to be killing monsters!
What kind of games did you design?

There is an FAQ about how to contact me in the help section linked at the bottom of the page. I never heard anything from you and have just come across this. Can you let me know what you are using to post. That is, a PC or tablet/phone and which operating system and browsers used, ie Android, iOS and Chrome or Firefox browsers etc. The more info we have the easier it will be to isolate any problems.
Regards,
Alan

If you check the DIV wrapper for the body of content of any page, you will see there is a minimum width of 1000px. On large monitors with high-resolutions this would mean the Facebook, Twitter and Google+ block would be on the right, because most people have their monitor resolutions above 1024 pixels in width.
If you drop the width of the browser below 1000 pixels then we get that block switching to inside the the main DIV wrapper, hence the problem that Georgia has got. Would be down to her browser width, not a browser issue, but a coding issue.

Les.
P.S. - I have included a capture of a problem that does exist at the moment where a word is missing.

Lower the browser width to below 1,000 pixels, and then the block switches inside the main wrapper to the right, but causes obstructions.
A better idea would be to move them to be under our little Message Envelopes, therefore not obstructing anything. Using jQuery they could be moved from message to message, which would look cleaner.
Just an idea!

Take for example an iPad mini.... Maximum resolution is 1024 x 768
Now, you would think that would be fine, but if you start breaking it down then you start to see the real picture. 1,024 pixels may seem quite wide.
Now, consider your browser, a border about 5 pixels either side, then the scrollbar which is roughly 10 pixels, so far thats around 20 pixels gone before you even ge to the webpage content.
Now, take the forum width wrapper which is 1,000 pixels, that block of Social Icons is 50 pixels wide, with a 10 pixel gap.
So, your actual screen needs at least 1,080 pixels - hence your laptop would be able to show the content correctly without causing side-scroll, which is a problem designers have. Side-scroll means you would need to scroll to the left and right, so to combat this on here they have a fixed width of 1,000 pixels, that would be fine, but they have coded those Social Icons to be static on the left, and only switch to the right of Message area, if you lower your browser resolution.
I guess you could ask for donations for Georgia's computer so you can have a 1080p HDMI monitor, and 24" display! lol That's what I use and it cost me about £80.. but my computer is a mix 'n' match, it works and I service it myself...lol Mind you a few weeks ago, I nearly broke it cleaning a fan on a main chip.. They cost way over £100 to replace!

Les.

Although I've just finished up an OU assignment and I'm extremely tired and hungry I actually understood your explanation of screen resolution. Amazing!

I had many chances in the past whereby I was offered jobs as a tutor, providing I completed a 6 week course. But for me, that would of meant a lot of standing around all day, that I cannot do! But that was years ago, and now I'm just too bad to do virtually anything quickly.
Hey, I must be explaining things better if you understood my explanation of a monitor screen in pixels! And one pixel is so small, yet if you had a 'dead' pixel (which is known as broken TFT Screen) it shows up as a red dot, I can only see one if I don't wear my glasses. My old age, lol.

I think I might just have enough energy left to slap your face with a wet duster. Although that's pushing it.
The assignment went well, I'm confident about it, and I always find someone to check them over for me before final editing. George did it this time!

The things that people get lost with, are not really that well explained to them in the first place. If I said to someone what is the difference between a computer and a webserver, both sound very much different, but in principle are actually the same.
If you wanted to run a website from your computer you can, but its not recommended because you turn it off everyday, hence people visiting would get a "No Server Found" error.
But with a proper server, it's on 24/7, or should be - unless the hosting provider is updating or applying added security.
Good 'ol George to the rescue.. I showed him to recognise scams or hoaxes on Facebook, which he did not know. You can guarantee there's always something you don't know and someone else does, even on here.

Les.

He'd make a great proof reader/copy editor because he has an eye for detail.
I'll pass the info about web servers onto Mary, thanks!
