Dental Abscess, Worse with Amoxicillin???

Hi,

Just after some advice. Last week I started feel a painful pressure when I ate on my right had side of my mouth, over the weekend my whole face hurt on that side, jawline, gland, ear and temple. I've been to the dentist and they found a 'pocket' as I was very sensitive to hot and cold, so they gave me some antibiotics, something beginning with a 'P' (I can't remember?) the pain started to subside along with the help of co-codimol. I went back to the dentist today and they have said that it looks like I am developing an abscess so they have proscribed me Amoxicillin until I have a root canal next Friday.

Thing is I took my first tablet a few hours ago and the pain has come back more localised and a horrible taste in my mouth, but the worrying thing I have worse ear pain and temple pain, is this normal considering it has started to settle down? I'd have thought carrying on with the antibiotics even though a different kind would just aid the healing process.

I can't see an abscess, so can't say if anything is draining as such? Any advice would be good as I am reading some very worrying things on the net about the infection spreading to other parts or your body, like your brain!!!

Thanks

Take the full course of amoxicillon.if you don't... The alternative is a an absolute nightmare that lasts days and weeks.

Trust the dentist. Amoxicilion will kick in soon and the root canal treatment will fix the infection.

    Hope this helps.

Hi, thank you, I will carry on with the course, I was just concerned that the symptoms had come back worse with the amoxicillin since they have settled down with the previous antibiotics?

Maybe I'm just over thinking the symptoms and should just trust it's one of those things?

Amoxicillion is the best antibiotic to treat that type of infection. Hope all goes well for you. I am

Around £500 down because I have had to go private. I am looking at a further £850 in the next

Month or so. Just go with the treatment and you will be fine.
