Dental infection, day 3 of antibiotics and facial swelling

Hello

I had terrible pain in upper right teeth over the weekend, on Monday it had settled on one tooth that I couldn't touch at all.  Got into Dentist and she took one look and said infected tooth.  Gave me Amoxycillin 500mg tds.  Pain on Monday was dreadful and was taking Brufen.

Yesterday I woke with barely any pain, just a discomfort like a bruise if you get me,  But some slight swelling to my right side of face, pulling mouth a little out of shape.

This morning (so starting day 3 of antibiotics) I have got up and my face is even more swollen on that side, really rounded now, but again pain is lessened so just that discomfort although some of that is coming from the swollen cheek when I close my mouth.

Is there anything to be worried about?  I feel that the infection is responding to the antibiotics by the reduction in pain and being able to touch the tooth tentatively.  But why the swelling?  And is this normal?  Will it go down or do I need to return to the dentist?

Thank you in advance x

Sorry just to add that the discomfort now is like a throbbing in the tooth, but not painful x

Hi, this is exactly what's happening to me now. I'm also 3rd day in and swelling seems to be getting worse but pain subsiding. What happened?
