so a few weeks ago i went ot my regular dental office as a new paitent and after all of the xrays were taken the dentist said she wanted to pull some teeth. i was very anxious at the appointment but she said nothing about cavities or abcess or anything all she said was i would like to pull these 3 teeth it will be easier to clean thats all i can remember but i dont recall her saying the teeth she wants to pull are bad in terms of cavaties or anything like that.

my questions is should i have them pulled or leave them and continue to brush my teeeth and hope that stope or prevents teth from getting worse? idk how bad they are im having a deep cleanming soon and will find out more about my mouth/teeth after the cleaning i hope any ideas?

It is difficult to talk to the dentist and think of questions after having been treated. I would recommend you call your dentist and ask these questions now that you're comfortable and get answers. Because missing three teeth is serious business and will be expensive to replace those three teeth.

And since you seem to feel some fear from this dentist you might consider looking for a dentist who treats patients with dentist phobias. These dentists tend to be a lot more gentle and take longer with their patients explaining things more thoroughly and using different techniques when they do there work. You might be more comfortable using a dentist like that. It would also give you a chance to get a second opinion which I think in this case you need

I would query why they want to take the teeth out. Teeth being difficult to clean seems a strange reason if the teeth are healthy. If you get a deep clean this should reduce any gum inflammation. You can ask for tips about cleaning your teeth better yourself. I get mine cleaned by the dentist every 3 months to get rid of any of the plaque I've missed.

?If you don't feel comfortable with the dentist you could possibly try changing to another one. I'm terrified of dentists but just kept going to my usual one as I was scared of changing in case another one was even worse. After my normal dentist didn't pick up on the fact that a tooth was infected (depsite the fact I was in excruitiating pain for months!) I have just changed to another dentist. She specialises in nervous patients. I've only seen her once so far but felt much more relaxed with her. Unfortunately I've now to get the infected tooth removed on Wednesday which I'm absolutely dreading but at least I know why it's coming out.

?My old dentist was going to take one of my other teeth out in past and when I queried it he said he could do a deep filling instead. I wouldn't rush in to agreeing to having teeth removed unless it's essential.

Couldn't agree with you more. Although most insurance companies will only pay for cleaning every 6 months.
