Depakote and keppra

hi all my name is Allen and I was wondering if anyone would know the answer to this question?!
9/9/2015 I had a subdural hematoma resulting in an epilepsy diagnosis.
im 57 years old and they put me on depakote for three weeks that helped but didn't stop the seizures completely so he's switching me to keppra and am in the process of doing that today is day 8 at 500 milligrams and at two weeks I'll be taking 1000 a day.
he tells me that if this isn't successful it could be stress related.
im still having 4 to 7 seizures a day and am hoping the keppra will do the trick.
my question is does anyone know of another med I that works with keppra that I could bring into the conversation if need be?
thank you

yeah.. same old story wherever we are but sadly the "suck it and see" approach seems to be what we all get. for me, "try this and if it doesn't work we'll increase it" started at 200mg tegretol retard twice a day to 1600mg a day with 2000mg keppra on top for good measure! to be fair, the day we started i clearly remember them saying "you do know we don't really know what we're doing".. wish the cheery nurse hadn't told me i'd be "right as rain" on the pills "in a couple of weeks" ..3 years into them i wasn't even able to write my own name altho that's much better now ..but 12-odd years on i'm still waiting!! ..hahaha
one suggestion.. yes, this site's good but if you're planning on showing it to your doc, go have a look at some of the 'resource' info - the panel to the right here is a good place to start. there are some really good links to top quality info. just not sure how impressed your doc would be with anything we have to say here in the forums..
anyway.. best of luck and wishing you all good fortune in finding a medic with open ears and mind!

its nice to know everyone about still.
week seven of phasing out of the keppra and into limotrigen... Ugh.
tired thru the day and can't sleep worth damn at nite
went bed last night at 8:30 woke up and thought that was a good sleep only to see its two hours later!!
i have to go back to the university in two weeks and hopefully things will at art coming together......I'm angry about everything and nervous shaky as hell I can't write with a pencil....
i got these little bumps everywhere they remind of when they stick with a all these pins to see what you're allergic to.
some days are good and others not....
its nice to see my friends again 😀

i know it's no consolation but i absolutely recognise with a wince everything you say about sleep, anger, impatience, nervous, rattled, shaky.. all of them and many more besides - but here's a thought ..i damaged 3 lobes on the r/s - they have to do a kind of 'divining act' as to what effects are the pills and what's down to the brain injury ..and all of the things i've listed are equally likely outcomes of either. how's that for a spoke in the wheel?!
..and i got it wrong when i said 200mg tegretol twice a day to old nanna - it was one a day and the bloody thing put me in a coma for over 24 hours! out cold.. too asleep to dream. it really is a case of just pluck up your courage and jump.. the tough bit is trusting they have indeed got a bunch of people down below to catch you!
