Depersonalization, Derealization

hi everyone, has anyone suffered from depersonalization, derealization caused by anxiety, it's like you're doing things but don't feel like you're there, feeling like you won't ever be the same again, looking old photos of yourself and just think how good was life then, it's like you're complete numb, living life like a robot, how was your journey and were you able to overcome it, and if you could tell me what meds were you on, for how much time they started giving relief and so on. Thank you in advance, hope everyone is good!

Hey there. I have had DR/DP 3 times since I was 14 and this time its the worst. I did recover about 90% the first two times but never felt completely normal but enough to live life. I have been on meds on and off since I was 11 and nothing really helped at all. When I was 25 I had no idea what was going on so I found a book that helped me understand it all and i did find a great psychiatrist who finally told me it was anxiety and from then I got better. I know now that this keeps coming back because the trauma that caused it originally has never been resolved. I can promise you that it will go away its just a matter of when not if. It is the most horrible thing anyone can go through. The best thing you can do is not dwell on it and try and get on with life as much as you can. Distract exercise eat well and find a good understanding therapist. Take care

Kimberly hi. I have to ask you. I've just been prescribed pristique. I did it through gene testing and just within the past 3 days. I'm starting to feel something actually work. This is my 4th med. I was just wondering how long it took for it to kick in for you. I'm so happy to hear your back to normal. I went through your same symptoms when peri hit me. I was so scared. Never been that scared before in my life. I was also, pacing too for a long time. I think my inner ear was hit by it too. The hormones dropping. Just did a round of steroids and antibiotics that have slowed down the pacing I had for over a year and a half!!!! Omg it's been unreal! Again, so very happy to hear your better. Take Care....

I had it when peri hit from anxiety and it was the scariest thing I've ever experienced. At the time I was not taking anything. I was trying to barrel through it. With time the symptoms have eased but, I've been through 3 meds that didn't work and one right now I was tested for based on my genes that is finally starting to help. My progress out of that has been at a snails pace but, it does ease up. Has taken me a lot of time but, possibly if I was on the right med way back when I started taking them. It may have stopped sooner. Hang in there. Sending hugs!!

thank you all for replies, there are times during the afternoon or in the night when I'm doing something else, staying with friends or something when I don't feel like that, and I feel that good that I say with myself I won't ever feel bad anymore that has passed but then the anxiety in the morning hits again for no reason and suddenly everything feels weird again the other day, it's like a cycle even though there are part of the days I do good still there are also part of days when I feel like I'm trapped and cannot do the things I usually did easily. I just want to know I'm not alone and someone will give me hope that this will pass

Hello, are you the football player I was conversing with last week? Did you ever get to the doctors to get those meds ? How is your depression, any better ?

sometimes I do, it's like you feel a strange you, like you let things drive you and for an instant you ask yourself who you are or why you're doing this.
